ShugMonkey: it's always good to hear suggestions of databases to use with Delicious Library. It's probably nothing we can implement in the near future because of how much work we have to do on the current version. Maybe some day we can have a better way of cataloging people's wine, comic book, and shoe collections =)

Unfortunately if it's mainly comics you want to catalogue, we probably aren't the app you want. We use Amazon exclusively to lookup data, and sadly Amazon is a poor database as far as comics are concerned. Also, most comics lack the unique barcodes required for the scanning feature--they often all have the same number making it impossible to differentiate between the episodes. Once they start using unique numbers and Amazon has them, we'll support them.

Though I guess it could be a user preference, I think the more accurate display of different sized covers was a big improvement in DL2 and thus a big plus, though I still agree about the 3 pane view needing to return. :-) – mpmchugh, on September 25, 2008 20:56

I am also a heavy user of DL1 who has not upgraded because of the 3 pane view.
I managed to have my library with me on the iphone by buying an other app that can sync text files, and even if not elegant, it is working
I should say also that i don't like much the fact that not all covers have the same size in DL2 . This makes it messy and spoils a little the pleasure of having a look at my collection. This however is no so important as a 3 colums fix

I ́d like to import only those albums from itunes, which i ́ve bought digitally.
Because they are not all from iTunes, i ́d like to have the option to import only a chosen playlist from itunes.
We ́re talking about almost 1.000 CD + download without LP & MC (still work to do), so doing in by hand is no real option.

just another vote for the old 3-vertical panel view (even iTunes has 3 vertical columns now for the Genus bar!). I'd also like to see some native Quick Look integration. Using Leopard now, when I click on an item and hit the spacebar, I expect a Quick Look HUD to appear! This wold eliminate the need to open the detail inspector nearly as often too — though I still think it should be on the right. ;-)

The "honking" is a sad side effect of the way we talk to the USB scanner in 2.0.3. I hate it too, but I decided I preferred it to the "not working" we had in 2.0.0 - 2.0.2.
We played with various forms of immediate feedback, but since most handheld scanners already make a beep (or you turned that off for a reason) and MOST of the time we found that items were being looked up in under half a second, we decided against it.
I may re-visit if I find Amazon has slowed down a lot in general.
Thanks,

2.0.3 seems to have mostly fixed things for me with the old USB Intelliscanner. It now works for scanning in items without first having to click the + button.
The only thing that's weird is that there's sometimes a bit of a delay after the scanner beeps and before I see or hear anything from DL.
There seems to be no instant feedback that DL "got" the scan, but a few second later it imports the item data, and I hear the name of the item spoken. Maybe my internet connection was slow when I was trying it, but it seems like there should be some more indication of what's happening.
Perhaps the activity window should open immediately. It seems to only when there's an error. Perhaps there can be some other status indicator in themain window somewhere.
Also DL makes a bit of an annoying staticy "honking" sound when it gets a scan. It it supposed to do that?

I only click the Add button and then make sure the entry field is highlited, then scan.
I did not do any upgrades between demo and license. (Until 2.0.3b)
Yes, i will hear rapid beeps as it will attempt to input the upc over the cover.
Everytime i scan, it just refreshes the search list. I actually scanned like 5 items before I realized it. Beforehand, it would announce each title as I scanned.

@BladeZ:
Sorry your USB scanner isn't working with us right, let's get this fixed:
- Where are you clicking now when you scan the items with your USB scanner?
- Are you using the same version as when you had the demo? [The code is identical between the demo and paid versions.]
- Have you tried clicking on the cover view (to give it focus) and scanning with your USB scanner? What do you see/hear if you do this? (Do you hear rapid system beeps?)

New to DL, Was able to scan entire 30 game PSP library without a single mouse click. Each scan automatically added the prior scan. I assumed this was by design, and is extremely efficient. I then paid the license as I was over 25 items, and now scanning in DS games will not auto add. I have to click every time. I am not going to add them this way. When will this functionality be restored? 2.0.3 has not resolved the issue. I'm using a usb scanner.
