Michael Purses started following the question "Album art, FLAC, not getting along well" in Songbird.
Michael Purses replied on November 20, 2009 01:01 to the problem "albumcover dont match to playlist" in Songbird:
Hello bernd67s,
If you want the album art pane to follow the currently playing song, click the "Now Selected" bar above that pane to switch it to "Now Playing".
If you want Mediaflow to follow the currently playing track, get the FocusTrack extension.

Hello carleton97,
Sounds like you have the Now Playing List installed, either uninstall it or set your options to what you prefer: http://launch.songbirdnest.com/open?u... and open up a display pane with it.

A comment on the idea "Total marge of Firefox and Songbird? Songbird tab in original Firefox." in Songbird:
When you look at the service pane as a whole, once all the core features are implemented, you're gonna have your Library (Music and Video), Services(Music Store,Concerts..), Devices, Radio, Podcasts, Playlists, and maybe even an iTunes Library.... I can see it becoming cluttered and out of place.
I wouldn't mind seeing a standalone menu entry for bookmarks instead of in the service pane, maybe stevel would be gracious enough to add that for me. ;-) – Michael Purses, on November 13, 2009 13:53

A comment on the problem "The sacred "Community project"" in Songbird:
Thats the job of the new CEO right now, trying to attract more dogs ;-)
And from what I gather (talking to the POTI employees and developers), he is doing a great job at it and has many plans for helping Songbird's future..
He's not as "open" as the previous; I believe more things have to go through his approval first (more censoring), but he can deliver where the previous CEO couldn't. So lets hope for the best! (pessimistically or optimistically) – Michael Purses, on November 12, 2009 21:43

I too agree with you on most of your points too.
And let me tell you my side of the story i guess.. What I love about Songbird the most is the community and how close you can get to the Songbird team itself. It's so easy to get to know them and become friends. It's a very unique and awesome company. So there's a lot I know about Songbird, the people that make it, and how they make it work, even though I am on the 'outside' - just a user. So I think it is very easy to have a transparent community-employee relationship if you really enjoy Songbird, personally, more than any other company I know. I loooove Google, and they are a pretty open company, but I definitely don't feel apart of any community with them..
With this friendship that I gathered with the Songbird team, comes a wealth of knowledge as I said. And I'll tell you what I know for the most part..
This is their first big partnership with a company that can actually make them money to be sustainable (7digital and Songkick don't bring in that much). And because it's their first time in this realm, they were kind of treated like a dog on a leash, and this company that they are dealing with was the human walking the dog, and that dog doesn't get its treat [a.k.a money] until the dog is done with the walk[a.k.a making extensions for them].
So they were kind of torn from the 'open' mindset. And soon they will be able to get over one hump hopefully, but I think there might be a few more humps ahead in the near future(couple months-ish). I think they are going to try to continue to deal with these companies that can make them more money (device companies as klint said)... But, the good thing is, they will no longer be the "dog" of the relationship, but the human calling the shots, and being able to talk! And not having to keep secrets.
So again, I agree with you, that they could have a small blog post saying "we're gonna delay this release a bit, stick with us" just to let users know without giving away information they are not allowed to give out.
But besides that, they need the community now more than ever! So if you love Songbird, and want it to become the best media player ever, then try to do your part if you have the time. Hop in Get Satisfaction every once in awhile to help some people out or share your neat ideas with the community! Or dive into the bird and try making extensions and feathers... It's really fun!
