Thanks Nick it is always nice to hear... When I use something on my sites I usually always post a tip and I think that by looking at the number of tips above that I may write too much (LOL) What do you guys think? – Ed-a-Torials @ Honey Bear Playhomes, on December 02, 2009 22:11

Thanks for finding that John. Now I am going to have to read his code and see if it works as well. I get an inkling that it is the same one that folds under a flash and not on top though. ;) – Ed-a-Torials @ Honey Bear Playhomes, on December 02, 2009 22:06

Hi guys... Nick I will contact you via your site and discuss this off thread sometime this weekend as I wanted to keep this thread about my tips and I purposely did not add that one here because when I posted the peel thread I had to code each file myself as well as host the file and there were certain things required of the requester for me to spend my time creating the peel. I spent the better part of one week with my head wrapped around the code and was able to make it work with Yola and be cross browser compatible as well as friendly with flash features that are the first feature on the the users web page. You see with many of the other peels out there if you have a swf movie or feature placed on the top of your page the peel will actually go under the feature and not on top like it is meant. I coded to change that as well and my code is as I know 100% spot on flawless...
Several of the others programmers on the web who created peels using the same base code had used my edits to as well make their own cross browser peel and I guess I am flattered that they used my work. A few actually offered thanks.
If you wait until this weekend I will write a thread on the peel now that it is usable with Yola due to the Pro version and ability to upload the .js file. Another reason to go pro ;)
@Yola could we delete these last few posts which are not the Honey Bear tips after Nick acknowledges? I would greatly appreciate it...

Lotto... LOL I would have better luck with what I've got going on now I think... It is the Christmas season and I am getting geared up to laminate 5000 Santa's flying licenses again. Check out my home page to see an example. I just need to know how many I need to send Yola in San Fran. Somebody take a head count of employees with children ;) – Ed-a-Torials @ Honey Bear Playhomes, on December 02, 2009 17:36

Vinny sighting... Kinda...How Bizarre was that? I log into Myspace and who is it that my eyes see but Vinny Lingham's profile in the suggestions on the right. That's OVER 350,000,000 to one odds... I can get Vinny to show on the page but when I pick the lottery I get nothing... ;) What luck... LOL
Not that I post much but my nickname is "Ed Honeybear" Anybody can add me if they like. ;)

Do you have any errors on your site that you don't know about? Find them with this FREE and easy program... A Honey bear Playhomes tip...Have you mistakenly misspelled a URL somewhere in your 100+ page site and can't find it yourself? Do you have any dead links that cause your visitors to see the "Page not found" screen? Have you got affiliate ads on your site that go nowhere?
With Xenu's Link Sleuth link verification is performed on links which appear in <a> tags, as well as images, frames, plug-ins, backgrounds, local image maps, style sheets, scripts and Java applets. The program follows links to other pages, and checks the links on those pages also, so it is possible to check an entire site for broken links in one session. Xenu displays a continuously updated list of URLs which can be sorted according to different criteria. The program utilizes a "simple, no-frills user-interface", and can help users understand how certain Web sites are structured. When Link Sleuth attempts to follow links to Wikipedia it displays Wikipedia's "403 Forbidden" response to Xenu's ID of itself "User-Agent: Xenu Link Sleuth 1.2j". It's possible Wikipedia blocks Xenu because of loading issues. Usually the Wikipedia links are perfectly fine but it may take some link checking on your own to verify.
While dead links are a pain if you can't spend all day clicking each and every link on your site just to make sure that they all go somewhere. (I used to) You don't need to...
There are other link checkers out there but not always will they tell you the page the error is on without spending some green. The Honey Bear likes the word "FREE" so here is a simple FREE and easy download to find those pesky varmints.
It is as easy as
Clicking here to go to Xenu's description page
Click here to download Link Slueth
1) Install on your PC
2) Run program
3) Click "File" in Xenu toolbar
4) Click "Check URL"
5) Enter the URL for the index page of the site that you wish to check. (it is best to open your site and copy the full URL directly from the address bar)
6) Click the "OK" button and you should see the Link Sleuth search your site and hopefully you see a bunch of green "OK"'s on the status column.
7) If you see red it's easy to find the page the error is on by simply right clicking the red link in the search results and then click "Properties"
8) In the Properties pop-up box on the very bottom you will see the page(s) on your site that have the errors so you can open your site builder to that page, exit or delete and then repeat the above instructions to recheck your site once more.

Just think about how often you add or delete pages on your site and then consider that others are linking to your site and to those missing pages too... Web pages come and go which can affect the usability of your site to your visitors and web crawlers. Xenu is so easy that you can use this as your weekly site checker and ensure that all your links go to where you want them to.
Ho, Ho, Happy site building
