BumpTop is a work in progress that continues to improve thanks to constructive criticism and suggestions from its beta testers, and lots of hard work. This isn't constructive criticism; its whining. Opinions and suggestions are welcome, but keep it civil. In the future, please try not to post with such a rude tone.
That said: I've never encountered the shortcut appearing anywhere but my desktop. You could submit a bug report to (feedback (at) bumptop (dot) (com)) and explain the details. The icon on the desktop does seem a tad pointless if it starts with your computer, though.-

It does, sorta. When you're not actually interacting with it, it uses almost 0% of your CPU cycles. As for RAM, I've never seen it top 80 MB (usually ~50MB for me), which is surprisingly little.
I suppose the feature could be nice for those low-resource machines to get every last MB of RAM when they need it.

System Icons open C: drive when double-clicked. (after v16 update)So heres another little bug I've encountered. I updated to beta 16 earlier, and while it fixed the problem with the missing system icons in XP x64, now they seem to be behaving strangely.
Dragging icons or throwing them to the Recycle Bin seems to work just fine. The problem is when I double click on either the Recycle Bin, or My Computer. Instead of it opening what I clicked on, I get a window showing the contents of my C: drive.
As per usual, heres my specs in case anything is relevant:
Bumptop Beta 16 (1949)
Windows XP x64 SP2
AMD Phenom 9850 (Quad-Core 2.5 Ghz)
4 GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX
All the latest drivers

Yes, it seems to just run with the wrong working directory. Depending on whether or not the files in that directory are vital to the program, it may or may not launch, or launches with the wrong configuration.
After encountering the problem, I tried running several games to see how they behaved, such as Half-Life 2, Cave Story, BioShock, Quake 3, Dwarf Fortress, Portal, Aquaria, but all of them have the same result so far (except Cave Story, oddly): trying to read from the wrong directory.
Dwarf Fortress is a free-ware game giving me the issue that you're welcome to test. Its an incredibly bizarre game that many people find completely boring =P.

Cave Story is the only other freeware game I have tested, but it runs fine for some reason.

Shortcuts don't work properly. So I just updated to version 16, and now shortcuts no longer work properly. I have several shortcuts to games on my desktop, and now when launching, the games look for configuration and other files in the BumpTop program file directory instead of their own.
