Muggzzi asked a question in SlideShare on September 21, 2009 22:11:
Slideshare goes to buffering or paused when skipping slide with audioWe have setup a Slideshare with audio. But, it does not work well. If someone playing the presentation skips a slide (tries to advance ahead), we just get a buffering message or "paused." And, the system never gets going again. Basically useless.

Is this really what the Slideshare audio system is like? It is a shame, because it seems like a nice system -- except it simply won't work correctly.

Thanks:
(1) My reference to deleted/deleted means -- someone whose status is "deleted" who then is physically deleted from the membership database. A "deleted" member remains in the member database, unless they are then physically deleted using your trash bag icon.
(2) We have spent the last 90 minutes trying to assess the entire workflow for the differences between placing a member to "pending" vs. "deleted" - including what notifications the member gets and what our best options are. It would be very helpful to have a workflow schematic so that we could manage things more easily. We have to play with fake people and emails just to understand the system.
(3) Since there is no way for an administrator to make notes on the member or potential member within the system (is that correct?), we are creating some codes and things to place in areas of the pending and/or deleted member's profile so that we can track what we are doing with them. We'll have to remember to remove this info should the individual's status changes.
(4) Also, we cannot export the complete information on members - as, I THINK the export feature does not grab any custom profile information. So, we can also not easily export information to import to our broader CMS to use for other purposes.
Thanks for your assistance.

Tom, it looks like this sort of export does not include custom fields? We just tried this - as we have other needs for this data within our national organization. It looks like just the standard profile fields exported?
Am I missing something? Must we fuss with API or something to just get a complete export of all members and their profile information?
Thanks for your help.

Muggzzi asked a question in SocialGO on September 15, 2009 21:42:
Definitions of membership status and privilegesPlease provide clear details of the difference in the actions/privileges between active, pending, banned, deleted, and actually deleted/deleted. . . . Also, "deny access" (which moves them to deleted, but not deleted/deleted).
A clear understanding of the actions each level takes would be helpful. For instance -- is the only difference between pending and delete (but not delete/delete) that one would need to take pending, move to delete and then delete/delete?
Or - does pending have any sort of privileges, notifications, etc? And, are there unique notifications sent for each move?
Thanks.

Thanks, Mike.
Completely agree. I can move stuff around and place the activity feed lower.
And/or Socialgo can consider actually making the activity feed functional (for the wall feed) - by including a link within the latest activity that will actually take you to the latest activity so that it has some meaning and can be used to help our members take advantage of the feed to engage them and keep them interested in what is happening. . . . . . . .
Just a thought!?
Muggzzi replied on September 10, 2009 21:22 to the question "Why do wall postings cut off part of the post?" in SocialGO:
Yes, I see what you mean. FYI - we keep getting this same inquiry from users --- since the beginnings of the information is shown in the latest activity feed, folks naturally assume they should be able to click on a link (at the end of the information in the latest activity area) and proceed on to the full posting. But they can't. Instead --- as you point out, one must hunt around on the page to find the full information.
Thanks for your assistance.

Why do wall postings cut off part of the post?(1) What is the character limit for wall postings?
(2) Why doesn't the input screen restrict to this length so that we stop losing parts of posts?
See below - the wall posting just goes to ". . ." - and we are unable to find any link that takes us to view the full post.
The wall comments simply cut off with no warning when you post the entry, and no way to view the full entry. See image.
