Thanks, but I think that from reading the bug page, it would seem that people are giving up on ever getting this working. Apple seem to keep moving the goal posts. I am feeling like a tool for buying the iPhone now. Think I might bring it back and get a blackberry instead.-

Ha so (nudge wink and a nudge nod nod), I will take this as good news. Really lovin Songbird (only found it 2 months ago) except for the lack of this one feature, good to know that it is on the books in a sense... didn't know about the bug page, good to know also. -

Will iPhone support be coming anytime soon?Up until recently, the iPhone and iPod touch were both locked up tight by apple with the release of major changes to the firmware, but since the coming of the hacked jailbreak firmware, the ability of programs to write to the apple database on these programs has started to appear. Mediamonkey was the first non-apple software that I am aware of that could do this. Now winamp has managed to get this support going with ml_iPod, which allows the data transfer of songs and movies to and from the iPhone.
The fact that ml_iPod is opensource I would have thought would mean that an idea of an ETA for iPhone support could start to be discussed. -

I am sorry, you are right, I do not understand, but it seems to me that there is no reason it should not. Are you ruling out the possibility of either ever working? I have just recently come across the latest version of ml_ipod on winamp which has given me the ability to sync music and movies both to and from my 3G iPhone without using iTunes. I am also able to use mediamonkey to sync. I do not know what is involved in a port of ml_ipod to songbird, but it is opensource, is it not? The only thing I use iTunes for now is to sync my contacts, and I think I might try and start to use Google Mobile Sync to do that soon. – munkifisht, on March 31, 2009 17:58 -

What is the difference legally between syncing the iPod and the iPhone? I would guess none. The iPhone is quickly becoming the smart phone of choice. If songbird has the capability of syncing the the iPod, I don't know why they are reluctant to try and sync the iPhone. -

Not correct.....
If thats is likes the case, hows comes mediamonkey have cracked that nut? I hate iTunes, so now use mediamonkey for my syncin, but would almost be down with the prog if Songbird figured out this doozie.
