I like this idea as well. Would be super spiffy if there was a way to direct a message only to yammer and not the other services.
I know I could just use their desktop client for this ... but honestly, having ping.fm/socialthing has totally spoiled me. I have no desire to open yet another application for this. I know ping.fm can't be everything to every one to every service, but this doesn't seem like that much of a stretch ... purely my personal opinion on the subject though.-

So is it that they've approved the request for the SMS shortcode thingy at this point but just haven't actually implemented it on their services? Sorry, I've seen various things in different places, so I'm not sure what the true story is.
Sorry, I know this must be frustrating for you all. But you do seem to be doing a good job at staying ahead of the curve and being ready for them. So, if it helps any I think you all are doing great :) – Matt W., on September 09, 2008 16:46

Doesn't work as far as I can see. As others have said, I'm assuming it's because the from address is not stripped. – Matt W., on August 13, 2008 01:37

Matt W. asked a question in Verizon on August 10, 2008 04:00:
Why does my vznavigator stop when a new sms comes in? Any workarounds? When I use VZ Navigator, it works pretty well. The problem is, I use it sometimes when riding a motorcycle. So I'm just listening for the turn by turn directions, and when a SMS messages comes in, or it realizes I have a new email, it puts that alert on the screen, and stops giving turn by turn directions. Obviously I can't be fumbling with my phone while driving a motorcycle. Is there anyway to make it continue to give directions despite receiving messages etc? My guess is this has something to do with the verizon phone software or Navigator itself.
Any ideas?

Mmm ... yes, but not entirely what I was getting at. I can seach for a placemark, then check in there. But I guess I meant it would be nice to be able to use the full set of SMS commands there as well (so @home would immediately check me in at home, no needing to search then check in, "Leave" would check you out, etc).
It would be nice. But I guess it might not really go towards making the interface more intuitive as the original poster asked for.-

The search box near the top when you login, it would be nice to be able to use the SMS commands here. like @ home would check you in at that placemark.
Maybe this already works and I'm an idiot, but pretty sure I tried it once and it didn't work. Just seems it would be nice and fast if you could use those commands on the web also to shortcut things.
(for the record, I realize I may be an oddball here. I tend to go for keyboard commands and avoid the mouse when possible)
