A comment on the question "Album Search again / VA" in Spotify:
Oh, I agree that it is not really very user-friendly. I just wanted to tell you how you could get the results now if you wanted them. – mzl, on December 01, 2009 15:32-

mzl replied on December 01, 2009 13:12 to the question "Album Search again / VA" in Spotify:
To get all the results, you need to scroll down before you sort the albums. Every time you get to the bottom of the list, new results will be loaded. After that, you can sort the list in any way you like.
I do agree that it would be nice to view albums when you search, and not just individual tracks.

A comment on the idea "Uncompressed" in Spotify:
First of all, the effects of normalization on the audio is probably more important than if the audio information is compressed or not. Also, the version of the CD used is very important (for an example, see some illustrative differences between different masterings).
There has been large previous threads on the particulars of the way Spotify plays sound. See for example http://www.getsatisfaction.com/spotif... and the linked blog post http://productionadvice.co.uk/wrong-a... for some good reading.
I would suggest you do some controlled encodings of your own (say, Ogg Vorbis -q5 to -q10) and run ABX tests against the source on your equipment too see what your ears limits are. Non-blind tests can't be trusted. I don't trust myself with these kind of things: I did blind tests myself to find where my own limit was when I don't have any pre-conceived notions clouding my mind. With Spotify, I'm happy and content listening to high-bitrate tracks with normalization turned on.
Happy listening! – mzl, on November 27, 2009 10:20-
