A comment on the question "Why can't I rank LinkedIN Searches by number of contacts anymore?" in LinkedIn:
Hi Adam,
"How active" isn't really the true flavor of the need. As a PMO / Product Manager I hire architects and leads during envision phases of multiyear releases with the intent of fleshing out the analyst and development teams through extended networks. LinkedIn was a great way to quickly see who is valued enough in their area to be connected through a mostly public forum and is embracing the kind of Web 2.0 efforts our projects embody.
On the other side of the hiring / engagement equation it gives me a great vision into contracting agencies / HR generalists... do they ‘get’ the new connectivity options of LinkedIn or are they coat tail riders.
Hope this slice of the usage helps.

when you look at the list of pending names is there a link to "send a message" to the user? – NancyB, on August 17, 2008 22:42
NancyB replied on August 15, 2008 07:01 to the problem "My VOIP is not working." in Clearwire:
The problem is that we have no cell phone reception in the house... front lawn... no problem.... as stated in the previous reply.
If it is still working when I get home tomorrow I'll give the 888 number a ring.
If ya'll didn't have some chat capabilities I would suggest that someone get an official support twitter ID... Comcast has even embraced it... would make things much easier when the phone being down is the reason for reaching out.
NancyB replied on August 15, 2008 06:14 to the problem "My VOIP is not working." in Clearwire:
It did not ring... or go to voicemail... but gave a 'number not in service' error... and not just when called from one cell phone (while standing in the middle of the front yard at ~ 10 pm at night) but 2 cell phones and an OnStar line...
So I shut everything down... disconnected everything... left it for an hour...
Now there is a dial tone... but the Linksys VOIP light for the Phone 1 line does not blink... it is a constant on. On dial tone... during a call... after a call... doesn't matter... if it is connected to the modem... it's solid on... always.
Thank you for going 'renegade' from your non-electronic processes to answer, but this experience makes me worried for the future...

My VOIP is not working. The 'support' person on the online chat continues to ask me the same questions over and over.
I can not talk on the cell phone and be at the computer at the same time.
Is there a way to e-mail technical support? take the box into a clearwire office? use an online diagnostic? end a log file? Anything?
The internet account works fine.
NancyB reported a problem in HP on August 10, 2008 19:46:
Recovery Disk for Hp ProgramsMy touchsmart 770 blew a hard drive... only 2 months old... Fry's replaced the hard drive with JUST the Windows Vista image... no touchsmart programs... no Hp diagnostics... and now Hp wants $30 + shipping and handling to replace them? Why did I take this to an authorized service center?
Where can I find this image on the internet? This is the second hardware failure... some one some where had to have this online!

Hey Paul - have you tried Ping.fm... it's a great place to update piles of sited at once! – NancyB, on August 10, 2008 02:22
NancyB replied on August 06, 2008 03:49 to the question "What are the 5 features/changes you'd most like to see on LinkedIn? Why?" in LinkedIn:
1. Notification when A / B testing is going on... on the actual pages... much turmoil is caused by appearing and disapearing features / formating... will the pdf button be there today? can I hide the news yet?
2. The ability to back up and restore profiles in other formats. pdf is nice, but being able to save the data off in a more easily formatted manner would help ease the mind of those of us who knoe more and more people who have had accounts wiped by accident.
3. Move modules around on the profile and on the home page. I really want to know when new peeps join LI from my college... much more than I care what my followers did 3 days ago.
4. Better 'people who have visited your profile' information... if I refresh the page fast enough I can get the number to jump wildly... or even say there were 20 in 4 days... there were none... there were 3 in 4 days... and then going to the details is more of a game of chance. At least say that X peeps don't want to disclose details so we have an idea if the reature is even working.
5. Better Q&A tie in with groups... so that as a member of a group I know that I can go to a special page and see Q&A related to 'our' area of interest. Maybe even allow people to pose questions to groups they aren't a member of and members get the prompt to opt out of 'public' questions when they ask for membership?

NancyB asked a question in LinkedIn on May 30, 2008 04:26:
Do you have a process for listening that I have not seen? What are your persona listening systems? I am not asking for the technical details of the underlying architecture, but a high level understanding of the business rules.
I realize that you are a small company with a staff that is stretched thin. I am not expecting a full blown MVP system with multiple levels of interactions and benefits such as the one extended to industry leaders by Microsoft (http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/gp/m...).
There have been several 'problems' and 'questions' raised over this past week about challenges that some users have felt, and answers given by corporate insiders within the LinkedIn Q&A forum itself that appear from the outside to be very disconnected.
I have been a user of a free account for several years and enjoyed the interactions that I have participated in with employees on several different forums.
I have never seen a questionaire, survey or focus group myself or one mentioned on any of th groups, forums, or platforms elsewhere on the web. Over the past week's worth of discussions on Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook, Ning, Yahoo Groups, I have seen the same questions arise in different ways from many people.
Some have been HR generalists that have participated in focus groups at Monster in Boston.... all the way to accountants that have attended think sessions on the future of tools at Google... and pretty much every geographical location in bewteen... no one can find any reference anywhere of feedback form people who have been invited to participate either as a one off occurence or in an ongoing influencer capacity.
Again, I am not asking for the details of the marketing firm you engage, but an understanding of your current methods &/or future roadmap for improvements in the way that different kinds of users provide imput into live site issue prioritization / future features / knowledge base enhancements.
I will be reaching out in several different platforms I participate in and encouraging people to respond with thier thoughts on how they would like to be 'listened' to.
Thank you for your continued engagement in this forum.
With warm reguards,

Please consider an alert box / message when you are performing A / B testing or flipping small changes in a short (< week?) time frame.
I was helping several former employees with job searches at the time that these changes occured and it was very difficult to explain the value / stability of a system that appeared to be 'twitchy'
