nato set one of nato's replies as an official response to "Rookie user needs help setting font templates..." in MediaComplete
nato replied on November 28, 2009 03:20 to the question "Rookie user needs help setting font templates..." in MediaComplete:
Jimmy - after making the preferred edits to a song, click on the 'Template' icon at the top of the Cue Editor (see the pic below) and choose 'Save to New Template'. Name your template, and next time you're working on a song, just select that new template from the drop-down (or better yet, set the new template as the Default) and your changes are all set!

nato set one of nato's replies as an official response to "Unable to format text in the cue editor" in MediaComplete
nato replied on November 20, 2009 10:38 to the question "Unable to format text in the cue editor" in MediaComplete:
Greg - there are multiple types of editing for a cue - 'Cue' and Page'. Open up a lyric cue and you'll get a good feel for this.
- In the object list along the left, you'll see a tree with 'cue' at the top, and various stanzas and pages of stanzas below.
- When you're on a page level (a single-page stanza is selected or a page of a multi-page stanza is selected, ie - verse 1a), you'l notice all of the formatting tools are available for use much like a word processor - select a piece of text and change the formatting
- When you're on the Cue Level ('cue' is selected in the list), MOST of the buttons in the formatting toolbar are greyed out. Click on the buttons that do work and you'll see a 'Style' palette open with formatting tools. Changing these formatting tools will change text for the ENTIRE cue. (These tools can also be found in the 'Advanced' view of the Cue Editor by clicking the drop-down in the upper-right corner of the editor.)
Hopefully this helps answer your question. We've tried to make a clear delineation between editing characters and selected text or the entire cue, and are trying to walk that line between helpful design and confusion, We're currently looking at ways to make that clearer for a future major release.

A comment on the problem "Cannot Pack Media from 'My Shout' Root Folder" in MediaComplete:
LOL. let me explain a bit more.
- I build everything on my computer using a ton of media from external hard drives and other various locations.
- I pack it on my computer to a 'My Shout\RHCC\11_22_09\' folder this week.
- Copy the '11_22_09' folder over to our computer in the auditorium in the same location. This way the only things our volunteers have to look for is the "folder of the week".
Again, this may not be helpful at all for your situation, but it works well for us. Glad we've solved the probem - now onto the bug fix! – nato, on November 19, 2009 21:09

nato replied on November 19, 2009 14:19 to the question "Why are lyric transitions so slow over motion backgrounds?" in MediaComplete:
Nick - this MAY not necessarily be a bug. You will notice that video transitions are much slower than graphic transitions across the board, due to the processing power required by the transition over video. Unless they're taking longer than 1-2 seconds (2sec is way too long), this is normal behavior. They're about 1.5sec on my computer, so I just factor that in when i'm leading.
As a side note, we'll be overhauling our video engine in our next major release (v5) and will hopefully move to a time-based transition clock, so this should help greatly.
A comment on the problem "Cannot Pack Media from 'My Shout' Root Folder" in MediaComplete:
Mac - I've been following this and I'm sorry for all of the trouble, but here's a couple of comments that might be helpful:
1- While MediaShout will hunt down files that aren't originally found, you can always go to 'File>Script Properties' and the 'Media' tab to see where the actual files are being pulled from. If you're looking at a packed script, all of the files should be coming from the same directory. Just look for the ones that aren't and that will give you a good idea exactly which ones are the culprits.
2 - You can disable the automatic find&replace that MediaShout does. I'm not in front of my MediaShout computer right now so I can't give you the exact location, but I'm positive you can disable it, or have it notify you that it's going to replace something. Whether or not this helps solve this particular problem, hopefully this will help you out in the long run if this is a problem in and of itself.
I'll look at the scripts in detail tomorrow and see if we can't get this thing put to bed once and for all. – nato, on November 19, 2009 04:18

nato replied on November 19, 2009 00:51 to the question "Lost install disk, need to reinstall. How can I get another?" in MediaComplete:
We all lose things sometimes. The good news is that you can get a replacement disk. MediaShout offers v4 replacement disks for $30 + shipping. However, v4 also has a downloadable version here as well. If you still need to purchase a replacement disk, they are available by calling 866-857-1292.
