Nathan replied on April 07, 2009 21:39 to the idea "Last.fm scrobbler" in Grooveshark:
This is the one feature keeping me from really loving grooveshark and using it on a daily basis, ultimately making it my third choice in music listening (local media>lastfm>grooveshark or hypem). It's frustrating that an app this amazing and promising is immediately lowered a few notches just by missing an extremely simple function that is scrobbling. I can't help but think the only reason this hasn't been implemented is because they view last.fm as a competitor and would rather just avoid it, but I do hope thats not the case. It's strange that these guys present themselves as so open to new ideas, but essentially put aside the most popular suggestion on here. Not to mention the "wait for the api" response was 8 months ago, surely the few dozen lines of code needed to implement a scrobbler script in the player (or server-side) would take less than 8 months.
Grooveshark could be my media player, but right now its just a site to link when I want to share a tune with a friend. Still great, but could so easily be so much more. This year, last.fm gets my vote.
