How about just looking at one of the other services that are similar to Hashtag.org and figuring out which 1 or 2 are the most reliable and go with them. Maybe make the code easy to switch out if need be. For instance, if one of them disappears off the internet all of a sudden.

It would be possible to give a few options, but currently, the way the various sites would return the results is not standard, so a different parser for each service would have to be manually created. So, it is less likely we can make it configurable... but we have definitely heard your pleas for search.twitter.com – Thomas Knoll, on November 19, 2008 21:34

I agree. Even though you can still search hashtags with search.twitter, it would be nice if there was a more formalized way to do this ie. a new hashtags.

I definitely vote that it goes to search.twitter.com and performing an automatic search on the #hashtag .

Sad that HashTags is down ... #tags are great search terms, kinda like semantic markup.
I noticed that http://terraminds.com/twitter/ gives no joy ... a shake-out in TwitterVille!

TwitScoop's graph output is neat, but the Get doesn't allow much flexibility.

I just went through http://twitter.pbwiki.com/Hashtags and couldn't find anybody to take up the slack ... search.twitter.com to win by acclamation?
