No sound on Build 1059

I like to keep up with the bleeding edge nightly versions of songbird. Have been using (windows) build 1053 perfectly for a few days. Just installed build 1059, and the player goes through the motions of playing a song whilst remaining strangely quiet. It appears to be playing - the volume is turned up and my normal playlists are all working mp3 files - but no sound comes from my speakers. To compare, 1053 still works, as do other media players on my system.
p.s. sorry I couldn't post this somewhere else, didn't know where to write it.

This all requires a whole rethink of the WIMP interface, which on most modern operating systems is pretty fluid already. Some applications however do deserve interactive spots on bumptop, for example weather or system gadgets?

Support for custom icons?

In Windows you can assign different icons to shortcuts, for example on my desktop I have shortcuts to .bat files, so rather than the ugly windows default I assign more logical icons to these shortcuts. However, Bumptop ignores custom icons and instead uses the Windows default. Is there a possibility of changing this in a future release?

A rescan button is a definite must. The current method of deleting the whole profile is incredibly annoying.

Exact same problem here
Windows Vista SP1, Bumptop v15 build 1859.
The standard windows "Create shortcut" dialog never appears either, so a blank shortcut only shows on the default windows desktop. – Nick C, on November 05, 2008 14:34

Definitely seems like a smart direction, seeing as most people who are testing Bumptop are likely developers?

Rather than hold all the cards, open a gadget api which lets external developers write their own little scripts - I can see much potential for additional applications like inbuilt web-browsers or fully-featured todo list managers!

I'm running windows Vista, and Songbird version 0.8.0pre, build 799 (25-10-2008) but I originally noticed the problem in Songbird 0.7 as well.

Thanks very much for your reply. I have downgraded my VLC back to 0.8.6 and that is now working fine again, however the current nightly of Songbird still suffers the same issue so I am confident these two problems are unrelated :D I am sure this issue will be resolved shortly, my patience is everlasting on the basic of the excellent range of functions in Songbird and prompt feedback on this website!
