I can however tell you it sounds like you didn't enter your activation key. When you purchased VIPRE you should have recieved an email from us with your activation key. You'll need to enter this into VIPRE to activate the full version of the product. To do this, open VIPRE. In the top left click Help then Register. Enter your key then click OK.

ge0se,

I can tell you though that this issue is caused because you have the "Prompt for action if VIPRE determines a program has suspicious characteristics" option enabled in the Active Protection settings. This option is disabled by default. With this option enabled it put VIPRE into a somewhat paranoid mode where it will prompt you whenever it sees anything trying to write to certain parts of the system. With this option enabled you will often even see things such as Windows Updates being flagged as suspicious. It is suggested to leave this option disabled unless you need to very closely monitor what is happening on the system.

Nick H. replied on June 15, 2009 21:27 to the problem "Windows 2000 Vipre slow, slow, slow" in Sunbelt Software:
Dan,
The Symantec Antivirus is know to not uninstall properly and leave traces on the system. These traces can cause conflicts with VIPRE's Active Protection. You may want to contact Symantec to see if they have a removal tool or manual removal instructions to remove the traces that are left on the system.
I haven't heard of any issues like this specific to Windows 2000.
Also, we no longer officially monitor this website so in the future if you would like to contact us for support I would suggest posting on our forums here:

A comment on the problem "SBAMsvc.exe causing 100% CPU utilization" in Sunbelt Software:
This is definitely not normal behavior. Do you have any other security software installed on the system? It sounds like something is causing a conflict with VIPRE's Active Protection. – Nick H., on May 27, 2009 19:57
Nick H. replied on May 21, 2009 19:02 to the problem "SPF performance & memory leak issues" in Sunbelt Software:
Ken, thank you for posting.
The only known issue that would cause SPF to use a lot of memory would be if you had a lot of connections being made on the system. To resolve this issue you can disable some options.
To do this you would need to open the firewall. Click Overview on the left and make sure you're on the Connections tab. Right click anywhere on the white section of the screen and uncheck the Resolve address, port, and protocol options. This should resolve any memory or CPU issues you had with the firewall.
If you're seeing slowdowns when browsing websites you may want to try disabling Web Filtering and see if this makes a difference. If it does, you can try disabling each option under the Web section to determine what might be causing the slowdown or just leave web filtering disabled as most current web browsers include web filtering already.
If you'd rather just receive a refund on the firewall you can contact our Online Shop by emailing onlineshop@sunbeltsoftware.com, or calling:

Nick H. replied on May 19, 2009 15:07 to the problem "Update 5003 - SBAMsvc.exe clocks 100% CPU utilisation" in Sunbelt Software:
Craig,
It would be best if you contact us directly by emailing support@sunbeltsoftware.com so we can gather a VIPRE diagnostics from you. This isn't a common issue so there must be something specific to your software environment causing the high CPU usage when using IE.

Nick H. replied on May 12, 2009 13:38 to the question "SBBD.exe Program not found - Skipping auto check" in Sunbelt Software:
Mousemonkey,
To stop this error we will need to edit the registry. Do not attempt this on your own unless you're comfortable editing the registry. Making a mistake when editing the registry can cause serious system problems. If you'd like to call in directly we'd be happy to walk you through this.
This problem is only seen on 64 bit systems.
Look in the location in the registry where the boot time cleaner is registered, and remove the entry for sbbd.exe:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
ValueName - BootExecute
Note that this is a multi-string value, so remove only the section that refers to sbbd.exe.
Please remember that this can cause serious problems on the system if not done correctly. If you'd like to call in and have one of our technicians assist you you can contact us at:

Nick H. replied on May 12, 2009 12:33 to the question "trojan-spy.win32.zbot.gen .. persistant after several cleanings/removals" in Sunbelt Software:
Gordon, thank you for posting.
It'd be best if you contact us directly by emailing support@sunbeltsoftware.com. We'll need to collect some diagnostics from VIPRE as well as some other logs. One of our malware specialist can assist you in removing any traces that VIPRE may be having trouble removing.
A comment on the question "Generic MBR rootkit question" in Sunbelt Software:
John,
This MBR rootkit detection is a false positive. This means it's not an actual threat so it doesn't do any damage. At the moment VIPRE is set to report only on the MBR rootkit so it won't attempt to remove any traces relating to this detection. Basically, I'd suggest just ignoring the MBR rootkit detection until this is resolved. – Nick H., on May 07, 2009 13:07
