As I noted earlier, the system seems to be working better after purging EB from the system and reinstalling. The progress is encouraging, and hopefully will be even better in the next build release.

After playing around a bit, it seems the problem may be related to Smart Folders. I completely removed EB from my system, reinstalled and updated to r570, and reset my services. The only thing I've done differently is not setup any Smart Folders. The service hangs still on a refresh, but only for a few seconds.

I like the concept behind EventBox, but the more I use it, the more frustrating it is. I'm most annoyed with the way EB completely locks up during event updates. The update fixing the memory problem was nice, but there a lot of other problems that need to be fixed as well.

I've been using the Twitter Facebook app to do this. That way, my updates go to both services, regardless of what client I'm using.

EventBox completely unresponsive on refresh.

When EventBox refreshes data from services, especially Google Reader, the CPU spikes to about 70% and gives the "beachball of death" for a couple of minutes. If I'm using EB, the window will jump away from whatever I'm reading and mark it as read.

This is a mild annoyance when I'm not reading anything, but completely obnoxious when I'm trying to actually use the software.

I agree. I've migrated from NetNewsWire to EventBox for my RSS needs (in large part for the Google Reader Support), and the ability to read articles within the client is the most missed feature.

I agree. The EventBox page markets the HUD as a "quick look" alternative to the main window, yet it has every feature on the main window stuffed into a smaller, harder-to-navigate space. A simplification is necessary.
