nickname replied on August 04, 2008 18:52 to the problem "Klammer zu fehlt ;-)" in Wuala:
its maybe only headlines / topics, and many people write most longer words even in english capitalized to be better readable.
only short small words stay with small letters at the beginning in such cases.
some write all the words with capital letters or even all in capital letters
who cares. its just an optical illusion, its not that we are in grammar class or writing some nifty poetry. besides its the authors freedom to write stuff they way they like.
so why dont you find us some real bugs and stop complaining about cosmetics.

oh okay. green icon shows that there are comments or updates on items that you are watching and where you are participating.
either new files in folders of your friends, your groups, or comments on these objects.
you can always rightclick on the wuala icon in the tray bar and see the options wuala offers. when there are comments, there is something like clear all notifications or something like that, or jump to new objects and such.
cheers.

network connectivity problems, routing/nat and so on.
if the icon is red, then you definitely have a outgoing network problem in the first place.
when its yellow its most of the times a backend (wuala/caleido servers) connection problem.
when its green you are part of the wuala network (reading/downloading content) but not necessarily uploading and sharing (fullly opened ports, nat/portforwarding set-up properly)
red is bad. yellow isnt that good either, and green is okay for starters. for trading you need to take additional steps on most consumer home networks.
cheers.-

nickname replied on July 29, 2008 17:30 to the discussion "corrupted files" in Wuala:
i had corrupt small files in the past. but its been a while. way back in early wuala alpha builds.
dont know about big files. maybe it depends where you store them on the remote system. maybe wuala has some issues on some platforms regarding the fileintegration, nfs and whatnot.
you need to try to track down whats happening exactly.
md5sum or something your files and check the exact filesizes (bytes) and try to find the differences in the files. maybe you can get to the core of the problem.
or clear your cache on your first machine and redownload your own file there too and see if your file is still valid.-

how about more file-formats that can be parsed and extracted and meta-data exploited:
please add camera-raw support for todays major digital camera brands and their fileformats.
then there is digital negative (dng) initiative from adobe too. would be great.
irfanview on windows and other tools on other platforms can browse even raw digital camera files too, so just extracting some exif/metadata and generating a preview, thumbnails and so on would be the first step.
greets.

denkfehler? mfg.
nickname replied on July 28, 2008 14:11 to the idea "Use cache as "upload turbo"" in Wuala:
eh i dont get the idea.... more reward from cache? is there a difference between cached files and trade-storage area? if yes, why and does it make sense at all?
a file inside the cache has to come frome somewhere. when it comes from somewhere and i have downloaded it, or created it myself and uploaded it, and store it myself in my own cache at first. am i not automatically also storing this file for wuala chunk distribution too?
maybe some of the caleido staff really needs to draw some technical charts and post up some current information on the wuala data flows and all this stuff, that people can get a better picture of what is happening how with the wuala software.-
