searching for friends - substring search - please add functionalitywhen searching for friends (nicknames) in the wuala database certain substring searches seem not to work:
searching for abcdefg
gives results:
abcdefg....
abcdefghijkl
abcdefghijklmn1234
but not the results for example
aabcdefghijk
aabcdefghijklm...
abcdabcdefghijklm....
we need more fancy search possibilities. thanks.-

heh i agree.
wuala is seriously hosed on loonix with this recent build. not even reinstalling (reapplying) the current tgz file from the wuala website helps anything.
is there any quality assurance team over at caleido at all or are they simply pushing out the buggy alpha bits as they please? ;)
i wonder if anyone tests anything over there ;p

nickname replied on July 10, 2008 09:09 to the problem "How to install Wuala in Turkey?" in Wuala:
maybe turkey is blocking some foreign networks, but that seems odd.
wuala is using the amazon cluster download servers to update itself, amazon s3 services and such, and then later bootstrapping into the wuala network with the help of some wuala servers in switzerland and i encountered some connection to some rootservers in german datacenters.
if its possible he should/could debug is network connection with the help of some networking tools, process monitors and such and see which connections fail or timeout.
on windows the sysinternals (microsoft by now) tools are pretty handy. with process explorer (procexp.exe) you can watch the wuala.exe process and see in the tcp/ip settings if it can connect to those servers/nodes or not and eventually what fails and so on.
there are many other tools also for windows and for all the other platforms too.
maybe your friend can also try different internetproviders in turkey, maybe some other dialup-providers, broadband, school/university or something.
good luck

post english screens and error messages if you can ;)
besides you are a wuala user, so why are you using webhosting services to show us your screenshots. why not putting your file into your own wuala store? :p
doh.
anyways, i think i have seen a similar screenshot like yours at some wuala users public folders.
maybe you want to search for some tags in the public/world files and see if you can find it yourself. i think there was even a comment from some wuala developers at that screenshot.
or simply write a bugreport at support@
cheers.

nickname replied on July 09, 2008 10:20 to the question "data backup" in Wuala:
good thing with wuala is that you can "login" to wuala even with no network connection at all, so even if backend connectivity is lost, if you are not even connected to the internets and such, assuming that you have at least been logged into wuala at a certain wuala client at least once successfully.
and then, if you have always downloaded/completed your own files in that wuala client (or in multiple clients) that all become disconnected by the wuala network, either because of disaster, because of lawenforcements, politics, end-of-world-scenarios or whatever, you still have your downloaded stuff in the wuala client application.
so nobody can actually take wuala data from you that resides on your physical hardware/clients, you just cant get any more new data any more.
so even if wuala goes out of business, cancels this whole project or whatnot, your wuala data is safe as long as you keep it complete on your own client/node.
