why are you people bringing up stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with wuala at all.
as for 50%cpu usage, that is also possible on multicore/smp/numa environments. wuala only seems to use one single thread at maximum core usage, so with a dual-core environment, that makes exactly 50% of total cpu load. on quadcore thats 25% and so on.
before bringing up topics please do think yourselves a little bit about your topics before posting and do some research for starters.-

it works again by now. one of your http servers in the datancetners was apparently giving bad answers or some script on them was causing this problem.
every time i was looking into the about dialogbox there was a http connection to those servers. maybe somebody ought to go through your webserver logs too from time to time.

simple workaround could be calculating the maximum speed that would be allowed for constant trafficflow which generates a certain amount if traffic in total.
that would certainly limit your upload/download caps but with calculating this limit you will be on the safe side.
nevertheless, its not good to rely on providers like these and to support their business model in general.
your 25gig caps as an example would be 9kbytes/sec of total bandwidth consumption for less than 25gigs, with a month of 31days, equaling something more than 24gigs in total.
those 9kbytes/sec you will have to allocate to both up and downstream speedlimits in total, in certain ranges that make sense ofcourse.
so maybe like 5kbytes/sec down and 4kbytes/sec upspeed.
this will result in crappy behaviour of wuala ofcourse, but will always comply with your providers bandwidth cap limits.
ewwwwwwwww........ :D-

version check failed, could not connect - all the time for many days nowthe about dialogbox always fails to check for a new version, since many days now. no matter how often the wuala client is being restarted, no matter on what networks the wuala clients runs. no matter if firewall, nat, completely open.....
nickname replied on August 25, 2008 12:49 to the idea "Monthly Bandwidth Limit and Statistics; feature request" in Wuala:
common limits examples are utter crap. i dont know any sort of provider that enforces those numbers.
so make it adjustable for any wuala user, that would help most, if at all.
second: following some bandwidth and transfer limits just plays into the hands of these crappy providers. it maybe be inviting to follow bandwidth rules at first, but this only helps these fuckedup providers to stay in the market.
people should swap providers if possible. if everbody agrees to these crazy rules, no matter if its bandwidth or who know what will be next (hail to network neutrality discussion), then these providers will continue to fuck their customers for good.
shut down those providers instead of trying to adjust to crap that you actually dont agree with at all in the first place.
shutting down providers will come with the loss of customerbase and boycotting these retarded companies.
have fun.-
