Microsoft Recite is being discontinued so that we can incorporate the technology into other products. However, we cannot continue to develop for it as a standalone product.

It is true that the Microsoft Recite application on the phone will stop working after 12/31/2009.

We're sorry to hear this problem. Please could you provide more information about what the problem is. What do you experience when the application doesn't work? Are you receiving any error messages? Do you have other applications running in the background that also use the camera?

If you allow the customer to view the invoice using a publicly available URL then you can attach the tag to the invoice. You may need to implement some security measures to ensure that the customer is valid because the tag could be scanned by anyone who can snap it. No customer information is provided with tag resolution.

For this, you would need a tag reader for the PC. We currently have no plans to release a desktop version of the tag reader.

The error message about not being able to connect to the internet seems to be the problem. Please ensure that you have data connectivity and have provided the tag reader application with the appropriate permissions to connect to the internet.

The tag gets resolved to the URL that has been setup when the tag is created. We cannot append additional information to the URL since this would violate the privacy of the users, unless they explicitly allow this to happen, which would require modification to the tag reader application/services.

As a workaround, you could create individual tags each associated with a specific URL so that you can identify the tag that was scanned.
