I'm a victim also; teice now I have been disabled without either warning or reasons given. I have also recieved a wrning for 'sending abusive messages'; a charge I am 1000% not guilty of.

It wold appear that I have been the victim of troll activity; the last time I was disabled, I was made to produce id documents in order to be re-enabled, as someone had obviously reported me as a fake prifle - not true. Now, just days after I ecieve a threat in my inbox that, 'I will clone you and post as you' this happens for a second time. For the week leading up to this, I have reported and otherwise ignored a shedload of abusive remarks made after my every post; this creep has been following me about, in order to post silly 'fat' jibes after my every comment. I wouldn't mind, but I weigh under 9st!

Apparently, a friend of mine is also having trouble with this guy, and despite him operating at least 5 or 6 fake profiles that are constantly reported for spamming and abuse, he stays on FB, and I am disabled.

Apparently, FB operate something of a 'guilty 'til proven innocent' policy.

I am actually incredibly annoyed, as not onnly are there people on there I have no other way of contacting, but I am also losing daily game points for the many games I play religiously, and my Pet Pupz are starving to death! That aside, just hours after my account vanished, my pics were being posted publicly on FB (I had not given them to anybody) and the bank called me saying a potential fraud alert had flagged up on my bank account.

I have emailed FB quite a few times in recent days, and have had one reply, asking me aagin for my id details which I have sent.

I am praying I get my account back and have expressed my disapproval. I can't believe they wold not flag the account as a troll magnet the first time this happened.

Please cross everything for me guys.... My FB account really does mean a lot to me, and sad as it sounds, I would be losing a BIG part of my daily life and social circle.

If anyone wants to discuss this, or the ongoing criminal case I have against another FB user for completely unrelated abuse, please do feel free to contact myself.

    Thanks :)

I am a victim of FB's disabled account/TOS bias too last week.

Its a very disheartening experience with messages, vids, pics, contacts, my friends etc etc locked out.

Back and forth emailing has yet to re-establish my account yet. And I am losing time...

So I trace some articles about the company and found this piece of info on an interview with FB head Mark Zuckerberg contradicting to a lot of the cases I read on this blog...

    (quoted from http://blog.eightblack.com/2007/web-2...)

JB: Lets talk about the developers Terms of Service (TOS) – Can you stop anyone anytime you want?.

MZ: I think Facebook has built incredible trust with the community we have. We have gone out of our way to open up the platform so anyone can develop anything. The intent of the actual TOS is not as harsh as the language in it sounds.

Battelle then continues to probe about the TOS issue as it relates to developers...

MZ: I don’t think it would be a good idea if we became too draconian..

    (end quote)

What rubbish. The company's system is biased and useless that can't identify real users from obviously fake profile like the so many Jesus Christs and many other fake names I see on FB. They banning people with no good reason and lousy customer service to not deserve them the success perceived upon them. I am very disappointed.

There must be an end to this.

My Facebook account was disabled 24 hours ago for supposed "spamming". I didn't get any proper warning, just this pink box warning me not to spam. I had previously sent a message to a few of my friends with the same heading, so I guessed that was the purported "spam" and didn't send any more such messages.

However, I was posting in a Facebook discussion group last night about a game appliaction - not spamming, just replying to a couple of other users and NOT posting the same message twice or anything and BAM, my account was disabled without warning.

I have less than 100 friends on Facebook which I've collected over several months, I'm middle aged and I don't use the site for professional purposes.

Incidentally, I got the e-mail from Facebook warning me that my account might be disabled AFTER it was actually disabled. What kind of customer service is that?

Facebook disabled my account saying I was spamming. I was not spamming at all. I added the "advanced search application" and searched for people in my area (Fort Lauderdale network), in my age range (20-35), with high IQ scores (120+). I got 20 results, and when I clicked on "Send Message" next to the result, the application automatically drafted a message that said "Hey there, I found you using the Advanced Search Application. Do you want to chat?". I sent the pre-written email that is created by the facebook application itself to the 20 people who met my search string, and then facebook disabled me for spamming?!?!? I was not promoting any product, website, or anything else. I just sent 20 emails to people who met my search criteria, and the message wasn't even generated by me. It was generated by the facebook application! I asked Facebook to reactivate my profile due to this innocent mistake, and this is what they said:
    **********
    Hi David,

Facebook has limits in place to prevent behavior that other users may find annoying or abusive. These limits restrict the rate at which you can use certain features on the site. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with the specific rates that have been deemed abusive.

Your account has been disabled because you exceeded Facebook's limits on multiple occasions when sending messages, despite having been warned to slow down.

After further review of your account, we have determined that you violated our Terms of Use by misusing our site features to harass other users. We will not be able to reactivate your account for any reason. This decision is final.

    Thanks for understanding,

    Clark

The suggest I was "warned to slow down". There idea of warning is this email that was sent to my personal account that I didn't even check until AFTER my account was already disable... notice it doesnt say Faceook **WILL** consider it spamming, it says Facebook **MAY** consider it spamming, which makes me think that even if I did get the email before it was disabled that I would have continued sending the form email to the 20 people because it clearly wasn't spam, so the MAY would not apply to me. Apparently it did.

    Here is there "warning" message:
    ******
    Hi,

Our systems indicate that you've been misusing certain features on the site. This email serves as a warning. Misuse of Facebook's features or violating Facebook's terms of use may result in your account being disabled . Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

If you have any questions, please contact warning@facebook.com from your login email address.

    The Facebook Team
    ******

It just really sucks because it took me weeks to create a great profile, and now it's gone because of innocent misunderstanding that crated by the Facebook application itself. If it didn't prewrite the messages, then each message I sent would have been different. Facebook should disable the Advanced Search Application!!!

If anyone knows how I can get my account re-established, or if anyone from Facebook is reading this, PLEASE reactive my account. This was an honest mistake.

    Thanks,

Hi Doodle. Jackson is helping me out as well, but it has been 4 days and Jackson's still working on it. Can you tell me what you wrote to him? I did the same mistake that you did: post too many posts on a wall, even though they weren't identical to each other.

Did you communicate with anyone else while you were talking to Jackson?

I would be grateful if you can send me your correspondence with Jackson to my email address. Let me know if you can help me :(

I love how Facebook is violating the 1st amendment. We have every right to know what we did wrong with full elaboration. We are innocent until proven guilty. What I suggest that you guys should do is report Facebooks behavior to your states attorney general.

Hoorah! Facebook account reinstated! They didn't even send me an e-mail. In fact, it was sort of an inspiring moment. I was pissed, not only at Facebook, but some other things I won't get into, and I was listening to this subliminal relaxation music on YouTube. In a moment of hope, I decided to check Facebook, once again. Then, I saw the URL start to change ... and VOILA! It could be that my friend sent some e-mails to Facebook regarding my account, but I'll have to ask him to make sure. Anyway, here is what I recommend. Apologetic and forceful e-mails work for the win. Try and balance the two out for a successful message. Also, don't send too many e-mails, since they'll place you on the spam list. Send a maximum of five messages, then leave the rest for your friends. Unless you receive a response, of course, you can reply to that. – The One, on June 12, 2008 02:38

my account got disabled today.... no reasons given unsurprisingly, but i replied with this...

    Facebook Administator

Having finally got through to your help page, the reason cited for my facebook account being disabled is because I failed to join my high school network within 60 days of registering with Facebook. Seeing as I have been a member of Facebook since late November/early December 2006, i find it unlikely that this is grounds to disable my profile; I joined my network, *********** School. London, almost immediately. Furthermore, possible reasons include that I do not actually attend ************ School - I guarantee you this is not true, as both my brothers attended this school, and i had roughly 100 friends in the network - all my school friends. I doubt 100 people in the same year at the same school would all accept someone they did not know.

On the other hand, there could be opposing reasons as to why my account has been terminated. A quick search of the problem on the internet displays the following reasons to disable my account which i will do my best to dispell for you to make your own job easier.

I assure you my i used my real name, age and high school. I am indeed Richard ****, hence the email address, and furthermore i also own the email address richard.****@***********.org.uk. this should reassure you of my real name and high school.

I did not join over 200 groups

It is possible i posted too many messages, but i only use facebook to communicate with friends, and any browse of my messgaes and my wall would show i wasn't spamming any members of the facebook community.

I did not have over 5,000 friends... i had just over 300

I didn't poke too many people.. in fact I poked less than 10 people throughut the 18 months + i have been on facebook

Although I am under 18 years old, i was entitled to being a facebook member as i joined my network quickly and efficiently. I am 16 years old, and therefore over the minimum age requirement to be on facebook.

I never write offensive comments to others on Facebook.

I suspect that this may be a processing error, and any help or assistance in allowing me to regain my facebook account is much appreciated.

I am very sorry if i have indeed offended any of the Facebook community, and i hope this email clears up any problems. I realise that this is not an infrequent problem amongst facebook users, although it can often result in the reinstatement of the account. This would be very much appreciated, i assure you. Sorry again for any problems, and thank you for all your help.

    Richard ****

it seems like it will be a long adn arduous process from the look of these posts trying to get my account back!!

    Hey guys!

So I get the email this morning. I now jump on the bandwagon with you fellow victims of Face Book assault and battery.

I have a hunch that I have been disabled because I am using my soon to be legal last name, Rampage; how the hell are they supposed to know that it ISN'T on my birth certificate? This is absolutely asinine. How the hell do you guys deal with this?

Also, I sent them emails this morning...when should I expect a response?

    Much love,

disabled@facebook.com, appeals@facebook.com, info@facebook.com, appeals+ngq0zsr@facebook.com Don't send them too many e-mails, though, since they could then place you a block list, and then ... well.... Funny. While MySpace barely knows how to keep itself together, Facebook barely knows how to treat its users. I wonder if there'll ever be a social networking site that can eliminate both of these problems. True, MySpace might mistreat some of its users at times, too, but they are more understanding and can easily be convinced with furious e-mails. And they never place users on block lists, I can assure you that. Still, the site needs a lot of work. Tom definitely does not know HTML from a professional level. Facebook is perfect, but you have to be more sly when dealing with deactivated accounts. It's almost as if the whole company is run by bots. – The One, on June 11, 2008 21:23
