A comment on the question "importing playlists creates dupes in the library" in Songbird:
the side-effect i mentioned above happens, but also i think the ipod-addon catches some of them. meaning, i get a few multiples on my ipod, not all of them. this would be nice, but of course because of the playlist glitch, this means i have playlists which have barely any entries because there are barely any duplicates.
this problem really needs to get fixed, i mean, come on. it's a media player. deal with playlists.
also, nice as gtkpod is, there should be a good syncing program/media player (like itunes) for linux. this would be it but for the playlist problem. – nikolardo, on April 01, 2009 00:04-

also, another annoying side-effect, which i guess makes sense
if you have your library with playlists, and therefore multiple entries, and you sync to an iPod (and i assume an mtp player also), the device ends up with multiple copies of the songs. it's just become even more rather annoying, and i'd been looking forward to syncing my ipod, as (if this gets fixed) it'll be an excellent solution in linux for ipod users.-

Separate web browsing and media view? When browsing the web with multiple tabs, I find it somewhat annoying to be back in my media view again without meaning to. I think it would be a helpful feature to be able to separate the web-browsing tabs from the media view tab a little more by having Ctrl + Tab only loop through web tabs, with a different shortcut for the media view.
That way one could better browse without being interrupted by the media view, but can quickly access the media view without being bothered by web pages.

Hotkeys for toggling Service Pane, Content Panel, SidebarThe Service Pane, Content Panel, and Righthand Sidebar should have hotkeys (Ctrl + P, C, S or something, or especially customizable) to be easily opened and closed. The service pane is open by default in the Media View and closed in web browsing, and I'd like to be able to have that as default for my right sidebar. It would also be good to have the open/closed when in media view/web be an option and not a set default.
The built-in buttons for displaying these panes are excellent, but the use of keyboard shortcuts should be an option.
