Did it work for you before today? Are you using Internet Explorer? – Guy Fawkes, on May 07, 2008 22:39

You can hide the *link* to AllPages, with some JS hacking, but it's ultimately futile: there is no way to disable AllPages entirely. – Guy Fawkes, on April 21, 2008 16:17

Ahh, OK. Thanks for that info. I hadn't done hidden pages yet to check it out - the question occurred to me as I wrote the original question. That'll teach me to check it out first... Still, I'd like to hide "View all pages" from all except Admins, and I didn't see a way to do that. – TexasT, on April 21, 2008 16:02

"Now, how about putting this on a Tips & Tricks page so everyone can be made aware of it?" That's just crazy talk, TexasT. PBwiki is quite adamant about not officially supporting *anything* that the Widget Library does. We're lucky that it works at all, given their recent disabling of html/css/js in most plugins/source view. – Guy Fawkes, on April 21, 2008 14:52

Hidden pages already act that way, TexasT. Visit http://forumdemo.pbwiki.com/AllPages and see if you see a page named 'Hidden Page'. It's not in the AllPages *or* the Recent Activity. – Guy Fawkes, on April 21, 2008 13:35

And I'd like to hide a related page, "View all pages", from everyone except Admins. It seems to me that's the only way to keep some pages truly hidden, if people can't even see whether they exist or not. That is, unless you could have a setting for hidden pages where you can specify that the page should NOT appear in ""View all pages" unless you're an Admin...

"I love the work Guy Fawkes and the others are doing on Widget 2, I think it's a great undertaking to extend PBwiki in ways that are useful to a great number of people, but perhaps not enough for us to make it an actual feature." Yeah, I agree. Now, how about putting this on a Tips & Tricks page so everyone can be made aware of it? ;-) – TexasT, on April 20, 2008 08:22

V2 is fresh out of beta, which I take to mean that it is usable, and viable, but PBwiki doesn't want to stop there. We want to keep going forward, keep making it better, and that means adding new things, deprecating old ones, making changes that don't always please everyone, but through trial and error, lots of testing, and user feedback, make PBwiki a better product.
How about this: Submit your feedback even if you aren't quite sure if it's new, old, or just a misunderstanding. If it's something we've already heard, then you're giving it more weight. If it's something we didn't know about, thanks for pointing that out! And if it's something you're misunderstanding, then we need to be clearer, change the way we say something or rethink how it's presented.
I love the work Guy Fawkes and the others are doing on Widget 2, I think it's a great undertaking to extend PBwiki in ways that are useful to a great number of people, but perhaps not enough for us to make it an actual feature. Srsly. But that's not to say that PBwiki won't change for anybody - after all, if we don't listen to what the users want, and everyone leaves, it seems like that would be an awful waste of a nice idea.

If you find a bug like being able to see the contents of the View All Pages when you're not logged in, or even just have feedback on 2.0 wiki in general, feel free to use the "Tell us what you think" link in that same right-hand corner - it goes directly to the fellow we have in charge of all that feedback for 2.0. That way, we can also make sure that serious problems are going right where they should, to engineering or anywhere else, and the rest of the Support team can work on the other questions people have.

> "Could you tell me how this is done"
Sure. It's also inside the Google Gadget on your FrontPage, so you can always find it there.
> "I am using IE 7"
Cripes, my bad. I am always forgetting to test my code in the Broken Browsers. I will get right on this, and see what I can figure out. I hate IE.
> "'View all pages'. Even when I am not logged in and I click on this tab I can see all revisions for each page and who made them. "
That's a security bug, and should be reported to PBwiki support (Use the 'Help' link just below the 'View all pages' link). They know better than that.
> "Any way to hide the revisions and the who?"
If they refuse to acknowledge that it's a problem, or refuse to fix it, let me know, and I'll see what I can work out, but modifying that page might be a bit intensive once you get a large number of pages.
> "Also when I click on this tab, the 'recent wiki activity' list appears on the right of the screen (even in Firefox)."
That's because the Google Gadget containing the code is on your FrontPage, so it only works on the FrontPage. You'll have to place it in your SideBar (which you have deleted) in order to have it affect every page.

Thanks, I see that "Last edited by" is not showing. Could you tell me how this is done, so that I can repeat in other pbwikis if I need to? However, the "recent wiki activity" list is still showing on the right side of the screen. I am using IE 7. When I invoke the same wiki through Firefox, the list does not show. Finally, there is a tab on the upper tight of the screen : "View all pages". Even when I am not logged in and I click on this tab I can see all revisions for each page and who made them. Also when I click on this tab, the "recent wiki activity" list appears on the right of the screen (even in Firefox). Any way to hide the revisions and the who? Nikos: I'm not sure what's going on with your wiki. It is possible to hide the 'Last edited by' text, but only if we can get it working on your wiki.
Would you mind inviting me to your wiki with edit privs, and let me give it a try? My email is guyfawkes (at) brutsch (dot) com.

ok, I made it public. I can see the "recent wiki activity" list on the right whether I am logged in or not. In addition: below the Front Page header, it shows "Last edited by xxxxxx n minutes ago" . Version 1 does not show anything like this. Anyway to mask it? Thank you Nikos – nikos, on April 11, 2008 16:55

wow that is pretty insane. I guess I understand either giving it or taking it away. I would personally prefer that it stay because I like to take free wikis strip them and use them as websites. Plus it is easy to edit the content right on the web instead of uploading and all that good stuff. However I can understand their idea behind taking this away because of people like me. But with all of that said I just wish they would either keep it or take it don't keep flip-flopping. Oh well no worries. – Newbie, on April 11, 2008 12:37
