NM Egg reported a problem in Ford on December 22, 2008 16:25:
2003 Escape paint peeling. We have (and many other folks I've found online) a 2003 Ford Escape with peeling paint. According to paint/body shops this is an issue with faulty primer paint and/or application. These vehicles are 'out of warranty' due to mileage, but in this modern era does anyone really expect factory paint problems for a 5 year old car?
The paint typically begins to peel on the tailgate and roof. We have several very rapidly growing patches. Ford corporate custumer service is no help ("out of warranty"), and it appears the local dealers' hands are tied. In spite of the many folks reporting this problem, Ford claims they are not aware of this problem/any other complaints.
Several online folks are currently searching for the appropriate attorneys. Is it really going to take a class action lawsuit for Ford to fix this? For what I gather, this is an issue for several of their SUVs during that period of time.
