Not sure if you saw, but this may not be the right place to describe problems about the iPod Add-On anymore.

Unable to play songs on iPod via SongbirdI am getting a problem where I connect my iPod Nano 2nd Generation to my computer. Songbird recognizes the iPod and I can view all the songs located on it (and even view the corresponding cover art), but I cannot use Songbird to play the tracks FROM the iPod and I get the following error:
Songbird has encountered the following media core error:
Resource Not Found.

United States user receiving Last.fm subscriber notificationI am located in the United States and my Last.fm profile states this as well. I am getting a notification that I must be a subscriber in order to use the Last.fm add-on.
The recently updated Last.fm add-on states:
NOTE: LAST.FM RADIO IS NOW FOR LAST.FM SUBSCRIBERS ONLY, see Last.FM's blog post for more information.
There is a link to a page which states:
This means that from today, listeners to Last.fm Radio outside of the USA, UK and Germany will be asked to subscribe for €3.00 per month, after a 30 track free trial period. In the USA, UK and Germany, where it’s feasible to run an ad-supported radio service, there won’t be any changes. Everything else on Last.fm (scrobbling, recommendations, charts, biographies, events, videos etc.) will remain free in all countries, like it is now.
The add-on and the policy of Last.fm seem to be in conflict. I assume this is in error, but I may be missing something in fine-print located somewhere else.-

Songbird is automaticlly restoring from minimized stateOK... this may be Sb1.2 or with Fx3.5RC1... not sure because it only relates to these two applications.
If I have Sb open and Fx open. If I minimize both the applications to my start menu bar (obviously I am using Windows), restore Sb, then minimize Sb, then restore Fx, and minimize Fx, Sb will automatically restore.
This does not happen in reverse (i.e. Fx won't automatically restore).
I think the two apps might have some wires crossed :-)

Apple news about syncing with iTunesI know Songbird isn't a device, but I know you are working with iTunes syncing:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-102...
Here is a clip: "Apple is aware that some third parties claim that their digital media players are able to sync with Apple software. However, Apple does not provide support for, or test for compatibility with, non-Apple digital media players and, because software changes over time, newer versions of Apple's iTunes software may no longer provide syncing functionality with non-Apple digital media players."
Not sure if this will impact Songbird at any level... just thought I should share.-

Noah Rusnock reported a problem in Mozilla Messaging on March 11, 2009 16:37:
Thunderbird e-mail composer doesn't hold the font set under Options/PreferencesThis has been an issue for me since Tb1. I thought by Tb3(B2) it would have been resolved, but alas. The problem I am having is that I have set Tb to compose HTML e-mail, with the "Arial" font at the "small" size, but it doesn't hold.
When composing a message it will start working, but if I undo (Ctrl-z) it will go to "Times New Roman" at "Normal" size (I assume it is the "default" configuration for Tb).
I can also recreate the problem by clicking into the body of the message, clicking outside the message (in an event such as an "oops, I wanted to add a subject to this e-mail first").
It just won't the settings.
I am using Windows XP SP3. I am currently using a signature, but I have successfully recreated the problem with and without the signature enabled. I have also re-created my profile (many times), but the problem persists.

Long tracks on iPod registering 0:00 in length, cannot fast forward/rewind within songNot sure if it is an iPod issue or a Songbird issue. I'm using Sb 1.1b3 (also happened on b2), but when I upload songs over 15 min (I am assuming it is 15 min as the closest track I have that uploads properly is 13:49 and the lowest track that won't upload properly is 18:23) the max length for those long tracks on the iPod is 0:00 and therefore the iPod won't play it. I can, however, hook up the iPod to my computer and play the songs on the iPod via songbird.
I have tried resetting the iPod and only uploading those tracks. I have also deleted the tracks, removed the iPod, reattached the iPod, and upload the tracks, but still no luck.
I have checked the bugs and found one referring to a problem on the Windows version of Songbird, but not relating to the iPod, so this may be a new issue.

@boosh
Lots of thoughts... head is swimming...
The User Account sounds interesting, but the notes are very vague as to what it will actually allow a user to do (besides have yet another username and password, LOL. I mean seriously you guys, Bugzilla, Get Satisfaction, User Account, Not sure if there is another one needed to post to blog replies on getsongbird.com, but that is a ton of accounts to manage! Different topic... not for here... unless you plan on centralizing all those accounts into the User Account). Anyway, I am sure you guys have some great ideas. I can see the dynamic ability to have a “listening to: XYZ song” being posted to Facebook, but what can I do (and how would I do it) with this new feature?
One thing that is definitely not clear though about the User Account: “user should not have to re-create social graph. they should be able to pull data from Facebook, im buddy lists or other social network they belong to.” This social graph means that the songbird account would NOT be another social network? Or are you planning on pulling data in an OpenID esque fashon to CREATE a social network?
My thoughts had this feature more integrated into the interface; maybe have a button in the list of songs (only show on mouseover of course!) that would say something like "Post this on Facebook". Then taking me to my Facebook account (within songbird) to select my friends to e-mail, post on there wall, or just add as a shared link.
Regardless, I didn't specify a HOW with my suggestion and maybe the User Account actually is the HOW.

Music Discovery DisseminationSay I find some cool new music on the net via songbird. How do I share that artist with my friends? The discovery of new music is cool (especially since songbird has integrated services for this), but really great thing about viral marketing and the net, is the ability to make things popular by "word-of-mouth". Integrating ways to post to things outside the standard (such as Facebook, etc.) would be an added bonus to not only the artist, but to the popularity of Songbird as well.
Maybe this has already been addressed or maybe this would be a niche scenario, since people who want music discovery have already joined sites that do this.
Just some thoughts...
Noah Rusnock replied on February 27, 2009 17:51 to the idea "Playlist Options" in Songbird:
Just thought of something else.. if you wanted to take this a step further (but it may be out of the project scope), the inclusion of a way to take samples from music in songbird (set a start position and end position on a specific track in a playlist) would allow for the creation of something new.
Taking this idea even further: Having the ability to take those samples and overlap, speed up, and slow down to create a new track. After combining, have the ability to export it as an MP3.
(Just throwing ideas out there... way out there... left field most likely)
Noah Rusnock shared an idea in Songbird on February 27, 2009 17:10:
Playlist OptionsOne thing I have never seen any other media player do is provide custom options for playlists. Now, I know about smart lists, that is not what I am talking about, they work great for getting dynamic playlists, but I am talking about a specifically chosen playlist with specific options.
For example, you have a playlist where you manually selected all the songs (normal playlist behavior), but every time you use that playlist you want it to be played shuffled. The option would be connected to the playlist. Other options could be added as well, such as "repeat", "cross fade" (when implemented), etc.
This has to do with click-counting. For me to use a playlist of this nature I have to execute the playlist and set the options (2 or more clicks). If I could pre-configure a playlist with options I could just execute the playlist (1 click).
A comment on the idea "Allow Concerts to have multiple locations" in Songbird:
I'm not seeing the implementation either, but I don't see any indication that it HAS been implemented (at least on this page). – Noah Rusnock, on February 21, 2009 14:25
