Bricoleur replied on July 24, 2008 22:54 to the idea "Can we get a bookmarklet for Sandy?" in I want Sandy:
To get the desired effect I simply did the following:
1) Create bookmark (I'm using ff but should work in ie I suppose) for my home page on I want Sandy on my Bookmarks toolbar
2) go into the bookmark and look at it's properties - it should read http://iwantsandy.com/iwantsandy - and change the link to http://iwantsandy.com/email/new
3) I set the "load this bookmark in sidebar" option (so I get the side bar rather than a new page opening)
4) That's it!
When I select the bookmark, the sidebar opens ... I simply type remember in the sandy box drag the url to the side bar and then select any text I want from the web site and drag and drop it into the sidebar.... add tags and viola - I've captured it all (sans pictures) to I Want Sandy ... Sandy "remembers" the URL and I can access the portion I've "clipped" by looking at the "context" when I call the item up.
Not perfect ... but it does work
A comment on the question "Remind about time A at time B" in I want Sandy:
@Rael: I tried it too and it seems to be working, except in lists (multiple tasks in a single email). Is it possible that it does not work yet in that scenario? @Aitese: you are asking Sandy to send multiple reminders for the same task, which does not seem to be supported at the moment. Maybe start a new discussion? – Olivier Gourment, on July 24, 2008 13:43

I just used this fir the first time with an actual upcoming meal, at first I exprerimented with the possibility of using the tag for multiple reminders:
Remind me about Cassie's meal at Ginny's in Bromley at 6pm 15th August @reminder 9pm 14th August @reminder 4pm 15th August
The outcome was totally borked:
I added these to your calendar:
#1 Fri, 15/8 6:00pm Cassie's meal at Ginny's in Bromley 4pm
- email reminder at 5:00pm
- tagged with @reminder
#2 Fri, 25/7 7:00am Cassie's meal at Ginny's in Bromley
- email reminder on Thu, 14/8 at 9:00pm
- tagged with @reminder
Maybe this IS possible but I'm doing it wrong? The idea was I needed to know to put some clothes out the night before, even shave perhaps as I usually trot off to work in the morning looking like a bum, but I still wanted reminding in the afternoon as I also rush out of the office like a kid at the end of school and would not get on the right route to the restaurant.
Is there a way to use multiple tags? I decided to tell Sandy to forget these first 2 and tried with just the evening reminder and the system works flawlessly, great work guys!

Hi Olivier. Sorry it took so long — sometimes this is the nature of these things and why we usually don't mention specifics about scheduling, etc. – Rael Dornfest, on July 24, 2008 06:32

This sounds promising. I am just wondering why it was said to be due 6 months ago? – Olivier Gourment, on July 24, 2008 02:04

i've been trying to raise this same issue with a site called "soundcloud". side issue, but the idea i had for that was that perhaps users could be voted down to a point that triggers a vote to ban them for abusing the system.
another idea would be to have no notification to the user who has been followed, thereby dropping the incentive for the spammer to randomly add people.

Howdy, Notsheep.
This should be working as expected — and not as it appears to be for you.
If you could forward the URLs for a couple of these to help@iwantsandy.com I'd be glad to take a gander. (Just right-click or Control-click the name of the item in the list on the Web site and copy the URL.)
Alternately — and perhaps more usefully for troubleshooting purposes — you can forward one of the reminders you received by email to help@iwantsandy.com.
Please be sure to reference this conversation in your email to help (just paste in http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy... or add [notsheep] to the subject line so I notice it right away.
We'll get it sorted for you!

The appointments are not tagged as "todo".
The change was made to "All Future Occurrences".
There was no pop-up confirmation, but this does not seem relevant, since it's clear that the changes to the appointments were made (as they no longer appear on digests or on my calendar, until September). It is only the notifications which seem not to have been changed.
A search on keyword shows no further instances of these appointments until the correct next instance (in September). There are no "done" events (but as these are not tagged with "todo", I wouldn't expect to see them marked as "done").
Everything apart from the notifications appears to have been edited correctly.

It sounds like this is a problem with Recurring Events.
I'd like to help, can you give me a little more info on the situation? First, are your appointments tagged as "todo"? This might be important. Second, editing Recurring Events may be a little confusing, they have at least 2 parts to them, the "next occurrence", and "All Future Occurrences". Which one did you change? Did you change both? (Sometimes when you click on a recurring event there is a pop up box that warns you that you're going to change all future occurrences of the repeating event. Did you see this pop up, or did the edit box show up with the two different options "this occurrence" and "All Future Occurrences"?)
Do a search on a keyword and find all instances of one of your Recurring Events that is malfunctioning. That might be helpful. (The search box on the Sandy webpage defaults to searching all archived, done and past events.) What do you see?
There may be a lot of "done" Recurring Events show up in your list, but that's OK. Every time a Recurring Event is tagged as "done" it actually creates a new instance of the event and marks the new instance as done. (At least I think that's what happens.)
Is there any other oddity besides the extra Twitter/email messages? Are the messages the only thing that's concerning you? It might help to figure out what's wrong.
notsheep reported a problem in I want Sandy on July 16, 2008 17:55:
Delaying recurring appointments does not delay notifications.I have several weekly appointments which do not occur over the summer months. I have changed the start-date on these appointments to the first or second week of September, and they (correctly) no longer appear on my daily digest - but I continue to receive notifications for them via twitter and email. Notifications are set to "2 hours before", not to a specific date/time.
