A comment on the idea "Push notifications for messages?" in Grindr:
Nah, no flame war from me. When Grindr gives me (and the other 40% of their users on iPods touch) some support, I will gladly give them some. – Nowhere Man, on September 22, 2009 17:11

"don't try to see logic" in a software development cycle. I don't think I can improve on that. Thanks for the laugh ;-) – Nowhere Man, on September 21, 2009 22:26

Maybe if Grindr worked or if their support staff were slightly more competent I wouldn't have so much motivation to complain ;-) – Nowhere Man, on September 04, 2009 22:19

they are censoring the forums now too. go figure. http://getsatisfaction.com/grindr/top...
A comment on the problem "Damn Pics!" in Grindr:
"resolved in the next update" and "solved" are not the same. when users have the fix installed on their devices, it will be solved, not before. i ask again. why is this thread marked as "solved" in the forum? – Nowhere Man, on September 04, 2009 22:10

Your point is not the one I have a problem with and not something I care to dispute. And I didn't question Grindr's ABILITY to censor this forum. I'm simply questioning the judgment used in doing so and asserting that in almost every case, censorship is bad judgment which will have a detrimental effect in the long run.
A comment on the idea "Support Push Notifications" in Grindr:
You are completely free to say what you think, even if others disagree or think you're crass for saying it. Several users were just deprived of that freedom by Grindr. I was constructive until the foot dragging became unacceptable. I was polite until the Grindr people copy and pasted the same response one too many times. If no one holds their feet to the fire and tries to cajole them into being decent at responding in a timely manner to major bugs in their software that affect significant portions of their installed base, then things will never improve. Censorship is wrong and it will ultimately cause Grindr to be less than it could be. – Nowhere Man, on September 04, 2009 20:38
A comment on the idea "Support Push Notifications" in Grindr:
this kind of censorship really just reflects badly on Grindr. if they're so afraid of the competition, they must not have much confidence in their product. it's also interesting to note that one of the posts they deleted did not mention a competing app at all. – Nowhere Man, on September 04, 2009 20:02

Nowhere Man reported a problem in Brightkite on September 04, 2009 19:41:
iPhone app forgets where i amIf I check in at a placemark via the iPhone app, then quit and relaunch the app, the home screen forgets where i last checked in. it reverts to the "find me" location rather than the placemark i previously checked in at and tries to force me to check in again in order to post a note.
i often check in from placemarks because i have iPod touch and the device location is not always accurate.
