Non-HD Versions of HD channels?

This may seem like a step backwards for users in countries like the US or Europe who have large bandwidth caps (limits). But in countries like South Africa, where I live, bandwidth goes for around $8-$10 per GB at a cheap rate, and 512KB DSL lines are mainstream with 1MB+ infrastructure still being tested.

It would be highly appreciated (by not just me, but large portions of the world) if there were some way of providing a non-HD "download option" for HD channels (like Mythbusters, eg.) to save bandwidth and circumvent 3-hour download times. At the moment it is just expensive and frustrating.

I know Miro isn't responsible for the content, but some way of communicating this would be highly appreciated around the world.

I also had this problem when installing on laptop. It happened right after installation, when BumpTop launches for the first time, as well as whenever I try to launch BT after that.

I think it WONT be Open Source, primarily because it's been discussed that a commercial version is possibly planned for a final release.

Releasing the source code for a commercial product would be like giving away free food, costly.

But I want it to be Open Source and free!

It only lags BumpTop, everything else runs fine.

It shouldn't be the stress on the CPU, I'm running a Core 2 Duo E6600 at 3.2Ghz, so it shouldn't even make it sweat.

So I'm sure it's definitely the result of not downloading the things in the background.

I like the media player as a projector idea, but I can see you having all the problems that you have with a normal projector (i.e. positioning, etc.)

Slowdown when viewing Images from Internet

I'm having a small annoying problem.

When I add a picture frame with a feed to Flickr (and probably every other image feed) and it needs to update / change the image (default to 30 seconds, usually) Bumptop goes into slo-mo mode until that image is downloaded, i.e. it LAGS.

This is probably only noticeable on slower connections, like mine, but it would be nice that the image would download in the background and only switch once it's done, rather than pause everything else while waiting for the image to download.

It would be popular for gamers, but this program is supposed to run on a large number of systems, and probably does so.

The extra amount of coding to implement PhysX / CUDA might not be worth it.

I don't like dust on my desk, but I like the idea of older documents gathering dust. Just not sure how you're going to present that graphically, as it seems kind of difficult.

Regarding the "not connected to internet issue".

I had the same problem on first trying to launch BumpTop. What solved the problem was to exit BumpTop (without it activated) and to launch it again.

That solved the problem real fast.
