I've been thinking about this issue, and other issues such as the collaborative pro/con deletion. I think we should use a community approach (duh) but make use of the "disagree" functionality. Right now disagreeing doesn't do anything to the ProSCORE.
So my idea is two fold:
Pros/Cons that have a score under a certain threshold (0, -3, whatever) no longer contribute to the ProSCORE at all (even if other people agree with it). Also, if another thershold is reached (-5, whatever) the pro/con is essentially deleted.-

Is it really that much more difficult to add the related products yourself, versus adding these tags?
I could see a streamlined system working if lots of people were writing reports and such, but considering WHO is writing the reports right now, I don't think it's that much of a leap to click on the tab and add them manually.

Those updates are from the products that are on your watchlist, which are mostly the products you've interacted with in some way.
If you want to stop watching these products go to this url:
http://www.productwiki.com/shadowtech...
And at the bottom click on "Remove all". So now you'll just have the people your following's actions on your dashboard.

We actually used to have that, and then moved to a unified "product edit" interface. The inline edit was convenient in some cases when you wanted to make a quick change, but often times you're changing multiple aspects of the report so it actually became a huge pain in the but.
Is there something about the edit-tab interface that you don't like? Maybe we can resolve this issue in a different way.

Omar Ismail replied on March 07, 2009 19:26 to the idea "product relation(s) details" in ProductWiki:
I see the related products list as kind of an "external references" idea from Wikipedia. So the whole "where, why, how, etc" questions should be answered in the product description.
Let me make this more concrete:
In a Wikipedia page you have the article that uses footnotes, and then at the bottom of the page you have a list of all the footnotes.
I see the related as something similar... the description mentions other products to give the current product some context, and then the competitive/related products are a quick summary list of the products mentioned.
Thoughts?
Omar Ismail replied on March 07, 2009 19:23 to the idea "location of articles and discussion" in ProductWiki:
I think this issue is broader in scope, and we should think about how the forums and articles can be used better, or how they should be used. Personally I think they're being underutilized right now. At the same time I don't want to spend time on features that nobody is going to use, just because *I* think people should use them.
So I think we'll have to be more reactionary when it comes to how the news/forums are further evolved.
