omissis reported a problem in drop.io on October 15, 2009 11:17:
no more space in mailbox /var/mail/drop log?I have a mail filter which forwards all incoming messages from a certain sender to my drop at drop.io.
I do it mainly to test whether the bug described in http://getsatisfaction.com/dropio/top...
will be solved. Today, I did start receiving messages like the following one:
This is the mail system at host mail.drop.io.
I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not
be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.
For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster.
If you do so, please include this problem report. You can
delete your own text from the attached returned message.
The mail system
<drop@mail.drop.io> (expanded from <xxx.xxx.xxx@drop.io>): cannot
update mailbox /var/mail/drop for user drop. error writing message: File
too large
Final-Recipient: rfc822; drop@mail.drop.io
Original-Recipient: rfc822;xxx.xxx.xxx@drop.io
Action: failed
Status: 5.2.2
Diagnostic-Code: x-unix; input/output error
---------- Forwarded message ----------
[cut]
I suppose that the log about all the messages sent to (even if not received at) my drop have filled the space reserved to the log file.
A comment on the problem "gmail forwarding to drop.io does not work" in drop.io:
My supposition is that drop.io refuses all the email messages which are not sent to drop.io address. Automatic forwarding does add only X-prefix headers, BUT it does NOT modify original from: and to: address headers.
Just an example to explain myself:
Manual forwarding
-----------------------
I receive a message:
from: somename@somedomain.comx to:me@mydomain.comx
If I manually forwad it, then a message is created with following headers:
from: me@mydomain.comx to:mydrop\\@drop.io
OK!!!
Automatic forwarding
---------------------------
I receive a message
from: somename@somedomain.comx to:me@mydomain.comx
If I have a filter which is instructed to forward to drop.io every message from somename, then a message is create with the same from and to headers:
from: somename@somedomain.comx to:me@mydomain.comx
but it is sent to mydrop\\@drop.io because automatic forwarding adds to the original message the following X-headers:
X-Forwarded-To:mydrop\\@drop.io X-Forwarded-For:me@mydomain.comx
FAILED!!!
SO, please do not refuse emails sent to drop.io, which is in X-field headers BUT NOT in to: field!
P.S.: x and \\ appended to email address only to avoid spam. – omissis, on October 05, 2009 09:24
omissis shared an idea in drop.io on September 30, 2009 14:18:
please allow text view!If I add a text file to a drop, it is recognized as a text file *only* if it has a txt extension. Other extensions force the user to download the file for viewing it, even if it is merely a plain text file.
Can you add identification of text files so to view them inside drop without download? Thanks.
A comment on the problem "gmail forwarding to drop.io does not work" in drop.io:
I think the problem concerns every email which does not indicate drop name as To: address. So it affect all the automatic forwarding services, like but not only gmail. No progress yet. – omissis, on September 30, 2009 14:12

filtering does not workI have create a condition which is always true but my feed is empty.
If I can contact you privately by email I give the details (my usename, feed name).

"Any" condition does not work!!!When I set more than one condition to filter the feed and I set "if Any" in the combobox, its value is converted to "if All"!!! It is impossible to set "if Any!!!
A comment on the problem "Feed reading function is broken (inbound RSS feeds do not update)" in OtherInbox:
Oh! So, it is just a RSS reader (for immediate reading) and not a RSS recorder (for late reading)!
Just an example. The most part of web sites I have subscribed release a new feed on a daily basis. So, if it happens that I do not access my otherinbox for, say, three days, I miss completely the feed items of the first two days I didn't access my otherinbox. And some other sites (specially news sites) change their feeds more often!
On the contrary, Google Reader stores feed items even if one does not log in for several days and even weeks.
Would it be possible that OIB will set a refresh time to retrieving feeds more often, say, every x minutes or x hours? – omissis, on September 15, 2009 10:01
A comment on the idea "Offer RSS feeds over HTTP (instead of HTTPS)" in OtherInbox:
Sorry, I am not able to help you. I only know (because I have made some test) that Yahoo Pipes works with other https feeds but not with https otherinbox feed. – omissis, on September 15, 2009 09:37
A comment on the idea "Offer RSS feeds over HTTP (instead of HTTPS)" in OtherInbox:
It seems that Pipes does not work with https otherinbox feeds even using your suggestion.
Sad but true. :(((
Indeed, for me the main appeal of otherinbox is represented by the rss features. But it's a long time that input feed feature is broken and output feed format is not so manageable... – omissis, on September 12, 2009 20:49

A comment on the question "c.notify.me redirection" in notify.me:
Hi Jason, let me explain my case.
For some of my tasks I use notify.me together with yahoo pipes. I build an rss feed from the email notification messages that your wonderful service send to me. Then, I parse and analyse all the items in such a feed to retrieve some informations from the source pages, and finally I get again email alerts via notify.me .
Having the original link in your notifications would make my task easier. But this is not the main concern from your point of view.
Parsing periodically the feed implies that dozens, hundreds of time a spider calls some c.notify.me pages to retrieve the source page addresses. Is this able to stress your servers?
In other words, I am a bit worried about the sustainableness of my behaviour. That is, I want to be sure to not abuse of your very useful service. Of course, if you allow users to maintain the original link in place of the c.notify.me redirection, as an option, all the problems will disappear... :) – omissis, on September 08, 2009 09:18
omissis shared an idea in OtherInbox on September 07, 2009 11:09:
increase the maximum number of allowed rss feed itemsCurrently rss feed supports at most 25 items.
I would very like it increased to 100. Even only the titles, if so it is easier to implement.
Why? Same reply of the last time: I need to parse and analyse my inbox messages with Yahoo Pipes.-
omissis started following the idea ""Conversation view" for messages, similar to Gmail" in OtherInbox.

XML feed not foundI attempted to publish my feed address in XML format, but asking the url I get: Not Found - The requested URL /xml was not found on this server.
omissis asked a question in feedoor on September 05, 2009 20:55:
please allow filter definitions on the feed besides on the items! Please allow filters on the feed besides on the items.
Just one example.
I create a (main) feed containing 40 (item) feed. I want to monitor some specific keywords on the title, say 10 ones.
If I could define a filter on the (main) feed, I have to create 10 filter conditions.
Otherwise, as it is now, I am forced to set filters at the items level, I have to set 10x40=400 filter conditions!!!
omissis reported a problem in feedoor on September 05, 2009 20:47:
error message after having add an item to a feedJust what the title says.
Adding an item to a feed, an error such the following is displayed:
XML::LibXML::Element=SCALAR(0x16230c0)Status: 302 Found Location: http://feedoor.com/home/ok/ok1/651847...
Anyhow, going back in the browser history and reloading the items/feed page shows that the new item has been added.
