Omni Support Ninja replied on October 23, 2009 21:52 to the idea "OmniGraffle Notes should 'travel' to other formats" in The Omni Group:
If you export to PDF, notes will come along (there's a checkbox in the Export pane to include notes on export.) Notes don't export on HTML, as our HTML Export is rather primitive. we do have an open feature request for this, though.
For the best support and fastest answers, please contact us from the Send Feedback menu in OmniGraffle or by emailing us at omnigraffle@omnigroup.com. Thanks!
Omni Support Ninja replied on September 15, 2009 18:47 to the question "Omnifocus crashing consistently after iPhone OS 3.1 update" in The Omni Group:
Hey Donny! Thanks for writing. We actually just had an update approved for the App Store last night. It should fix exactly what you're seeing.
Let us know if the problem persists, though.
(You can probably reach us faster by emailing here)
Omni Support Ninja replied on September 03, 2009 22:03 to the problem "Filters no-longer available in the new update of OmniFocus" in The Omni Group:
Hey Donny!
At first glance, it could be one of a few things.
First, something we've experienced a few times after an update, would be that the window resized upon launch, but didn't redraw correctly — if you close the window and reopen by clicking the dock icon, does it appear normal?
If not, it might just be a case of not having the View Bar enabled. If you're not sure, you can toggle the View Bar by pressing ⌘+⇧+V. (There's also an icon, by default, on the toolbar to enable/disable.)
Hopefully that does it for you!
(But let us know how it goes.)
If you need more help, you might want to email us directly here.
Omni Support Ninja replied on August 28, 2009 19:08 to the question "Where is the OmniGraffle change log?" in The Omni Group:
John - Sorry for the confusion here. If you want to take a look at the release notes after you've installed a new version, you can bring them up from the Help menu.
You can also find them here on our website.
By the way, you'll generally get the fastest response if you contact us through the "Send Feedback" Help menu in the application or email us at omnigraffle@omnigroup.com. Thanks!
Omni Support Ninja replied on July 28, 2009 23:34 to the question "OmniGraffle UI Gripes" in The Omni Group:
1. Sorry about that; we've got an open bug on this in our tracker.
2. You'll need to hold the Option key down as a modifier to reveal the "Bring Forward"/"Send Backward" commands.
3. Actually, Command-G is OS X’s standard Find Next command, we don’t want to step on that. We’ve had some discussions on how to best handle these, and I’ve added your feedback to our tracker. Apple’s and Adobe’s choices tend to clash a fair amount nowadays. Keynote uses Option-Command-G for Group, and Shift-Command-G is the convention for Find Previous in many of Apple’s apps.
4. Right now, Command-arrow is assigned to selection of adjacent shapes. If you like, these keyboard shortcuts can be reassigned in the the Keyboard Shortcuts pane of OS X's Keyboard & Mouse Preference Pane.

Omni Support Ninja replied on July 15, 2009 18:28 to the idea "Omnifocus + push" in The Omni Group:
Happy to help, Ben. We're working on a feature that we feel offers some advantages over the push system. (No need to push everyone's data through a central server, notifications that work even without a network connection.) Check ahere for details.
Omni Support Ninja replied on June 03, 2009 00:12 to the question "Why is there an unfair pricing scheme for upgrade of OmniGraffle?" in The Omni Group:
Sorry for the confusion, George. We don't want to force folks to buy upgrades they don't feel they need just because they want to get some additional discount on some future version of the application that we haven't made yet.
We don't want to force folks onto an upgrade treadmill; we wanted to give folks the ability to skip an upgrade. Presumably version 4 included features that you found useful, and you've been using them since you purchased that upgrade. Folks that didn't need the features stuck with version 3 and never got them; why should they be forced to pay for them?
The upgrade system we have in place gives you a discount for being a previous customer, regardless of what version you bought. (If you decide to skip version 5 and come back for version 6, for example, you would benefit at that point.)
Hope this makes things clearer.
A comment on the question "Add the possibility to combine contexts for more effective GTD" in The Omni Group:
Tagging is a feature we have under consideration for a future version of OmniFocus, but it's not in there yet.
I tend to use project view for that sort of task-organization structure. My contexts are all tools, people, or places that I need to access in order to accomplish actions. For obvious reasons, most of us here have had our habits shaped somewhat by the tool we're building, of course. :-)
re: an action that three folks need to sign off on; I generally do create separate actions for each person, assigned to their context. I can then use the note field for those actions to store each person's thoughts/feedback individually.
The note field may help here, since the toolbar search field finds results in the notes as well. You can "tag" items by adding text to the note field. If you put something like "#budget" there, you may not need it as a context as much.
I'd invite you to take a look at our forums, as there's been a bunch of discussion of tagging there. – Omni Support Ninja, on May 29, 2009 20:37
Omni Support Ninja replied on May 14, 2009 20:12 to the question "Listing of unprocessed, but due tasks" in The Omni Group:
Hi Again, Donny
Thank you for your feedback. Sorry for any confusion or frustration this is causing. Again, this is one of those situations where the current behavior of OmniFocus is intended to aid in the GTD workflow.
The inbox is intended to be a repository for unprocessed input, as you point out. If it's unprocessed, typically that means its undecided.
Context lists are for actionable tasks. It's set up this way to prevent you from seeing things that are unprocessed and therefore not actionable.
The fact that you are assigning a due date to this task means that, on some level, you are partially-decided about this task.
If you switch your Data Preference to automatically clean up actions with a project assigned, and set your default list for single actions to be "miscellaneous" you should be able to have those actions available in context mode.
If having a "miscellaneous" single action list as a catch-all feels too fuzzy, try renaming it "undecided". This way, you'll be honest with yourself about the nature of the task and put it where it belongs (out of the inbox, rembember: "Inbox Zero" whenever possible) until you have more time to process your inbox and review your lists.
All that said, we do have a request to change this behavior to "allow inbox items to show up in contexts", and if that would be something you'd prefer, I'm happy to add your vote and feedback for our developers to consider.
Does that help? If you have any other questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact omnifocus@omnigroup.com for more direct 1-on-1 feedback.

Omni Support Ninja replied on May 14, 2009 00:15 to the question "Add the possibility to combine contexts for more effective GTD" in The Omni Group:
Hey Donny,
Thanks you for writing back. The scenario you mention is certainly an interesting consideration for us to make. I've added your vote & comments to our database. I can assure you our team will take it under advisement for future development of OmniFocus.
In the mean time, (to get the most out of what you have available to you now) I'd encourage you to try simplifying, deciding, and generalizing contextual actions as much as possible.
In GTD terms, sometimes our tendency to be really specific about stuff is in anticipation of difficulty. We want to 'cushioning the blow', so we infer that if we plan enough, we'll be the most prepared, rather than simply responding with an appropriate amount of energy. It's possible that this is a preemptive overreaction rather than the "mind like water" readiness OmniFocus can provide with more general contexts lists. The principle there being, the less precise we need to be, the less dissonance will crowd the accomplishment. Therefore more flexible you are, the more "flow" will be experienced. You may even discover there was no need to 'brace for impact' at all.
If you'd like to discuss this further, or offer any other suggestions for us please email our Support Ninjas directly at omnifocus@omnigroup.com

Thanks for your question, Donny. Sorry for any frustration you may be experiencing.
Generally, it's best to choose the context that you are most likely to accomplish the task in. However, we certainly understand the need for more complex actions with less specific parameters to be more flexible.
We have a feature request for "Multiple Contexts" that I'll be happy to add your vote and feedback to.
If you'd like to offer more specific suggestions or have any other questions, please email our support ninjas. [ omnifocus@omnigroup.com ] That's the best way to get in direct feedback from Omni.
Omni Support Ninja replied on April 29, 2009 18:05 to the idea "Split window option" in The Omni Group:
I know we've got split-window requests open against a couple of our applications; if you use "Send Feedback" under the help menu of the application you'd like to see this added to, the Support Ninjas can add a vote from you for that in our development database. (One of the metrics we use when planning our work is the number of folks asking for a given change.) Thanks!
(For future reference, you'll generally get the fastest response from us if you send email directly; Get Satisfaction isn't one of our official support channels.)
Omni Support Ninja replied on April 13, 2009 21:01 to the question "Can the overall category "Library" be renamed?" in The Omni Group:
We have a feature request open on this- I've added your vote! For future reference, feel free to e-mail us directly at support@omnigroup.com, or selecting "Send Feedback" from the Help menu of our applications- you'll get a quicker response this way. Thanks!

Omni Support Ninja replied on March 24, 2009 19:34 to the question "OmniOutliner for PC?" in The Omni Group:
Hi there!
Unfortunately for jealous PC peeps, all of our products are designed specifically for Mac OS X, and would have to be completely rewritten to run on any other operating system. I'm afraid we have no plans to do this: we would rather spend that time creating additional products for Mac OS X instead! :)
OmniOutliner does have quite a few Export options, so you can share your outlines with PC users. We have more info about these options on our website: http://www.omnigroup.com/applications...
For the best support and fastest answers to OO questions, please contact us from the Send Feedback menu in OmniOutliner or by emailing omnioutliner@omnigroup.com. Thanks!
Sincerely,

Omni Support Ninja replied on March 23, 2009 21:39 to the idea "Redistributable Graffle View with Action Support" in The Omni Group:
Currently, none of our export options (I’m thinking PDF and HTML here) support layers, a prerequisite to supporting the full range of actions in these formats. We do indeed have feature requests for such; I’ll add your comments to them.
If you're sharing with other Mac users, keep in mind that OmniGraffle Pro will act as a viewer even when unlicensed.
FYI, the best way to ensure these ideas are heard are if you contact our support team directly through our website. Thanks!
Omni Support Ninja replied on March 18, 2009 20:54 to the problem "iPhone OmniFocus: MobileMe database all jacked up" in The Omni Group:
Sorry for the confusion here - this problem is caused when the process Apple uses to sync a local copy of your iDisk back to their server gets confused and mangles OmniFocus' database.
