I need some help... I am girl and i am little technology inclined. Anyway i updated my iphone to 2.1 i think its the most recent? Then i got it jail broken. I lovee my phone so much better now that i can customize it, however it seems like every time im looking through the app store or sometimes my email it just exits out of it and goes to my home screen. OR it freezes and shut its self off. Is there anyway to fix this or should i go back to how it originally was? i would really appreciate any information someone could give me. Thanks so much

Just to throw in my two cents...I first had this problem a couple of months ago, and after finding this thread, tried the various restarts suggested here. My camera came back online after one of them, but only for a few minutes, then it disappeared again from the system profiler. I finally brought my laptop to the Apple store, and just in time. It was just a few weeks before my 1-year purchase anniversary, and they discovered that my camera was physically broken, but because it was still under warranty, they replaced it for free (labor and parts)! So, if the fixes mentioned above don't work for you, it might be time for a trip to the Genius Bar...

Got this from Apple
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.

Well, since Mac switched to OS X, all of those applications truly run independently of one another. So, if one crashes, it won't affect the others. If, for example, you turned the computer off while working on an unsaved Word document, you might lose a little work, but that's about it. Seriously, it's an extremely solid operating system. I think the MacBook I'm typing on right now has completely crashed maybe once since I bought this one in October. Troof.

Thanks Brandon, but I already did that. I knew about those, but I am afraid of messing things up in the long run. Actually, my son powered the computer down when I turned my back. – Girl Friday, on May 29, 2008 19:48

I can see that then. The IM functionality sort of works without jailbreaking it via SMS. I don't know if you've seen the demo's of AIM's client on the iPhone that will work with firmware 2.0, but it has bonjour support and you will definitely want to go back to factory settings to grab it. I did the jailbreak to my iphone originally too, but it just wasn't stable and i don't trust some of the yahoos making the software. I hope you don't think I'm a douche for my comment. I really just feel confident that the 2.0 firmware will solve all these problems.

why would you crack your phone less than a month before you have the capability to get 3rd party apps for free and cheap in a legit way? This type of stuff blows my mind.
"doctor, it hurts when i do this"
"don't do that"
sorry if I'm just being a ****, but I really don't understand the mentality here.
