I gave up trying to solve this. Too much trouble. So instead what I'm doing now is using twhirl to do all twitter, but am using gTalk for my non-gApp account (username @ gmail.com) and added twitter to it. Now I use the download gTalk for twitter, and gTalk web on gMail.

I haven't been successful in changing my DNS settings but I'm planning to change hosts and hopefully will get it all worked out then. But it seems like the DNS stuff discussed on that other thread will do it.

I bought the domain on godaddy but it tells me that my dns is hosted somewhere else. when i go to cpanel for my host, i don't see anything about dns or srv. what should i be looking for?

I'm understanding that we need to "add to DNS". My question is HOW? I tried following instructions on the kavinda.net site, but it wasn't working. Where am I typing those lines and how do I know they are being entered in my dns? That's what's confusing me. I think I know WHAT to type, but not WHERE to type it!

this isn't working for me. when I add twitter@twitter.com to my buddy list, it never shows up. I'm using google apps for my domain. So I've tried to add name@mydomain.com as the user name for both gtalk and jabber. Either way, when I add twitter to my buddy list, it is sent the invitation but it never accepts it. I'm showing that twitter is still offline and not accepting the invite.

no. still not working. it's frustrating because it worked for my @gmail.com email, but it's not working for my Google Apps domain.

Thanks. And maybe the problem is that I'm using Google Apps. I was using an @gmail.com account and it worked. I switched to an @orangejack.com through Google Apps and updated Twitter with my new address. But still not working. Would that be the problem?

nothing happens as in I add twitter@twitter.com as a contact but it shows as offline. I invited it and it didn't reply. I tried to IM it anyway with "on", "help" and the code it gave me on the webpage. I get no reply from twitter.

I have been trying to add twitter to my gmail account through google apps but when I try to IM twitter (using the PC client, not gmail) the access code I'm given on the twitter page for activation, nothing happens.
