Remembering the Library view would be definitely useful. For the current sesstion at least. (eg. not after restart)

I had this problem before Gstreamer, but now it's fine for the home newtork (connecting to my pc through wireless). With windows it was OK, now it's a samba share on the pc, so it's more faster.
I have a VPN connection set up too, but didn't test it lately. I'll post it here if I will
