Terribly sorry, but I'm afraid you're going to have to continue to talk down to us mere mortals and spell out what your suggestion actually is. Perhaps forgoing clichéd phrases regarding beer and freedom would help.
Your first post said "a better [idea] would be for Spotify to _not charge_ those who use software libre".
Getting a service "without charge" would normally be equated with "free", as in sans monetary cost or payment. So, this entirely straightforward interpretation of your statement could well be the source of other peoples' confusion. – orrc, on November 18, 2009 23:14-

Ignoring the layers of condescension, the Apache HTTP server is free (as in freedom), no? Sony are profiting — much like Spotify — from the use of software libre. So I think my hyperbolically flippant comparison stands.
To claim that any company making a profit through its use of free software or standards is unethical, is ridiculous. While I also very much enjoy the benefits of software freedom, I quite enjoy living in the real world too.
A native version of Spotify for Linux would be nice, but oddly enough I won't be lobbying for all Linux users to be given premium accounts without charge. If you really want to pursue that, then you should open a separate thread. -

This would definitely have to be an HTC change, though technically it is feasible as currently the lock screen captures a "long press" on the volume button and ignores it.

Yeah, the general lack of integration is a bit disappointing. If the app fired the appropriate intents upon track changes, it should even get picked up by native music player widgets (e.g. on the HTC Hero) and also get picked up by the last.fm app. – orrc, on November 16, 2009 01:19 -

Manual upgrade worked for me yesterday to version 0.3.23.
What I don't understand is why Spotify don't just allow the app in the market for all countries? The app is no use without a subscription, yet users with valid accounts could be on any mobile network (as we can clearly see). -

Android client crash upon completing loginSince yesterday, any time I start the application and the login process completes, the application crashes.
It's always at the end of login, whether I'm initially online, or initially offline (blue bar) then gain mobile coverage again.
The only thing I've done since last using the mobile client is re-order some of my Spotify playlists using the Mac client, plus delete one playlist and add another (I think).

Android client crash when opening context menu on playlistCrashed with NPE when opening context menu on a playlist. The playlist had been recently updated (about 30 seconds prior) by adding an album from the album popup (which was reached from the artist popup).

Ok, so I've now installed the billion Windows updates that appeared on top of my base SP2 system and rebooted a few times as required.
Spotify now launches and works as normal.

This is on a brand new computer I got today. I just finished wiping Vista and upgrading to Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. Spotify was one of the first things I installed, so there's certainly nothing weird on here...
It's an Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 with 4GB of RAM, if that helps any...
