Turns out metadata writing is already allowed on both computers - so why didn't the metadata follow the files when I copied them from one computer to the other?

Great, thanks. This might solve my problem; I wish to synchronize personal ratings between two computers (which both have the same music files) - this should be rather easy with in-file rating saving.

First of all, ratings are stored as metadata in the media files themselves, right?
