pacificIT replied on May 31, 2009 06:17 to the idea "Qik PC version?" in Qik:
@Bhaskar. Hmmm. That certainly sounded like a brush off.
I think if you have "serious" plans for Qik in the future which will allow people to integrate video into their "whole" onlline strategy, and not just the "niche" mobile applications, it would become a serious contender. If it doesn't, it won't last very long and we'll just wait and see when the "serious" players such as Ustream and YouTube fill in the gap Qik COULD HAVE occupied.
"BTW, what ever happened to that startup called Qik?... I don't know either. Whatever." ;-)

Adding editors "hijacks" emailsWas experimenting with the idea of sharing editor duties of a Twitter account with my wife. I added her email account and all worked as expected.. BUT.. we soon realized when she wanted to use her e-mail address for her own Twitter accounts, she couldn't. She was now ONLY under my account. Essentially, my adding her "hijacked" her e-mail account meaning she needed to use another account for her own administration.
Unless we are doing something wrong, this is not only an improper way to set up the accounts, it could also be quite danger if people intentionally "hijack" other people's e-mail addresses.
Just wanted to let you know.

pacificIT shared an idea in pingvine on January 11, 2009 17:05:
Tastes almost perfect but needs a little "prepend to the post"This certainly will replace Twitterfeed in my life if all works well. My intention is to use it with Ping.fm (and thus all my other services, including Twitter, identi.ca, etc). Though I have only started this recently, one feature I WISH it had which exists in Twitterfeed is the ability to prepend the post. For example, "My latest blog post:" or "Uploaded photo:" or whatever. Any plans to do this?-

Chatterous LoveSo wonderful to see this here! Thanks for adding this feedback ability for an excellent service I've been really enjoying since March 2008! Simply amazing! Possibly the best chat platform I've seen yet! Have made it the central point of my community at http://www.chatterous.com/landing/pac... . Keep up the great work and congrats on the recent move!

Links in FacebookI love the Ping.fm to delicious.com ability BUT I've noticed an issue with Facebook links. They show the URL but not the name of what the URL is for nor my original post (which shows up everywhere correctly). Am I the only one with this issue?

Hi Adam. Thanks for responding. Quite the disappointment though.
I think the discussion is REALLY missing the point. If you look closely at every service you have added, there really are ONLY TWO TYPES of services. Those which look alright with the postings as they are (such as Twitter or Plurk) or others which will prefix the posting with an account identifier. In my case it is Robert. It is the same on LinkedIn status, Facebook, Plaxo and a few others. There's NOTHING ELSE to confuse "people".
Presently, as it stands, if I post a status update and I don't include a separator, the post from Ping looks like this "Robert Thanks for the update!" . Though it looks like I'm thanking myself for something, it really is intended for those in my network. Therefore I must put in the extra ": " before every post to be "Robert : Thanks for the update!" Which makes more sense. Even if Twitter shows it as ": Thanks for the update", no one will even notice the extra two characters at the front though I may or may not be consistent in remembering it. It just simply makes using Ping.fm that much more harder.
This is turning into such a great service Adam and I'm certainly evangelizing it in every tech community I am involved with.. both in North America and in Japan. I hope you see the value of this and take another more serious look to making this an "option" available for those wanting it.
