Lost files - says problem uploading file in /tmp/WualatmpA file that I uploaded weeks ago is now lost. Wuala says that there is a problem uploading it from /tmp/Wualatmp
I know the file was there because I have access it before on this machine...
I am using the latest version of Wuala, I restart it about every other day.
Can you allow me to mount Wuala readonly!? This isn't the first time I have lost something and this only started happening when you allowed read/write access.
I'm on OSX 10.5.4, have jvm 1.5 and 1.6 install... not sure which it uses.
PLEASE HELP.

Wuala failed to upload a change, file is completely lost.iTunes changed a file, Wuala displayed a dialog saying it failed to upload that change and now file is lost because it was supposedly never completely uploaded. The dialog stated the file was not in /tmp but I certainly didn't remove it.
This isn't the first time this has happened to me and it certainly wouldn't be a problem if I was allowed to mount readonly. (I'm on OSX 10.5.4)
I'm really starting to not like your product because of this continuing problem. I'm sure iTunes is doing something weird but you should certainly handle it.

Yes these are my files and I have write permission. Would it be possible to have an optional read only integration? I would rather iTunes not be able to modify anything. – paf0, on May 09, 2008 15:01
A comment on the question "Keep Local Backup option?" in Wuala:
I'd rather not wait for a file to stream where possible. The cache also contains files that I browse, right? My files can get bumped out of the cache if access a lot of other files?
I also thought the local backup option would be useful for syncing files. If a file is inserted on one machine, it would definitely be available for quick access on another.

Files corrupted by iTunes?I noticed that random mp3 files will not play. I opened the wuala gui and found that these files are now only 1k in length. I have the files all downloaded to my Windows XP machine and imported into iTunes over the W drive. I opened one of the 1k files in Notepad and found that it only contains the ID3 tag. I suspect at some point that iTunes decided to update the tag and the filesystem rewrote the entire file as opposed to just updating the tag.
Any ideas?
The file is clearly marked as downloaded in the UI so I'm not sure what else I can do.

That's a good idea but personally I'd settle the functionality that we had before. Maybe someone can tell us why they took it away......... – paf0, on May 03, 2008 16:39

I'm not sure I understand your response. I did not disable the backup on all of my machines. I run Wuala on four machines. On two of them, I want the files to be backed up so that they are instantly available. The other two are basically storage nodes and I never access my files, therefore local backup is disabled.
Are you saying that I had to backup my files on all machines?
The check box isn't there anymore and the setBackup function is not available from the command line version. It appears that the functionality is no longer under my control.

Keep Local Backup option?Where has keep local backup gone in the UI? Is there any reason this option would have disappeared on both my Windows machine and my macs?-

Maybe find it on insert and then make it's location and size part of the metadata? Then maybe you could cue up those chunks first when multiple mp3s are added to the download list? Or maybe even have a special load library file access mode?
I'm kind of just thinking out loud here... I love the potential of this thing. I wish it were open source or had powerful a powerful plugin architecture so I could help out.

option to cache ID3 tags?I've been using Wuala to store some of my ripped CDs so that I can have access to them at work. However, it has issues importing the files into programs like iTunes. There are no problems with playing a single file of course. I would like to import my library with out having to download all of my files to the local cache there (it's low on space due to actual work stuff). This brings me to my question... Might it be possible to add a feature that would cache only the ID3 pieces that iTunes looks for on import? After that the files can be streamed at will when needed.
Pleease?
Also, I want to say that I love Wuala. I've recently dedicated a machine for storage and I've been telling everyone I know. Keep up the good work. Thanks!-
