Qik for WinMo 6.5 Samsung Omnia 2 ( Bell Canada)
How soon will we see a Qik app for the WinMo 6.5 Samsung Omnia 2? I tried installing previous versions but none of them run very well at all. :( I even installed the latest version that worked great on my Omnia 1, including the flash on/off feature.

I love using Qik and I'm anxious to get back into the swing of proper streaming on my Omnia 2! =)

I did notice something new on the pre-installed version that I got with my phone. It had a feature which let you choose whether you wanted quality or reduced delay. I thought this was brilliant!

But now that I have tried previous versions, I'm kinda stuck with a program that doesn't run all that well, and doesn't have either of the features that I would appreciate.

1: Choice of quality over delay and vice versa.
    2: Flash on/off feature.

That's it. LOL So the question is: (again) When will the WinMo 6.5 Omnia 2 see an updated version of Qik?

I'm also asking this because I am now on the HSPA network in Canada, and I can't get over the speed! Streaming will be such a breeze. So consider me...anxious.

    Thanks in advance.

Ok, I now have my Omnia 2 and I am totally in love with it. It came preloaded with Qik which had some nice new features. (But it also left out some odd ones)

I REALLY like the feature that lets you choose between quality and lag. The only thing I noticed is that there was no control of the Flash in that version. I had issues with Flash before, so you know I want it on my Omnia 2. =)

I just got my Omnia 2 with Bell Canada and the connection speed is ridiculous. I am ready to show off my Qik skills but I need the tools!

Do you guys have a working version with the Quality/Lag choice and the Flash option? If so, please lead me to it. =) Thanks in advance.

    Qik Viewer App!
After thoroughly enjoying Qik and convincing my friends to give it a go, I realized something once they started streaming more and more. Most of them have linked their Qik to Twitter and therefor tweet when they are streaming. The problem is, on my Omnia, along with my friend's Iphone, we can't really enjoy the stream. On the Omnia, I have to wait until someone finishes streaming before I can download it and THEN view it. It almost defeats the purpose. Almost...

So my question is, to the awesomebombs at Qik: Would it be too much to ask for a Qik Viewer? (App)

The idea is this: You see through SMS or Twitter/Facebook app that your friend is streaming. (You are following this friend on Qik) So you go to your widget that launches the Qik Viewer. (Which is separate from your Qik streaming app) You choose the friend who is streaming from your "following" choices, and VOILA! You are viewing their stream! (Maybe you can talk to them via the Qik chat feature, but that might be asking too much)

Would any iteration of this idea be possible at all? You guys are already the best streaming program out there...might as well ensure you stay on top and leave everyone else who's trying to catch up to you in your dust. LOL

Qik on Omnia 2 (Windows Mobile 6.5)
My question is simple. I've been seduced away from my Omnia, by the Omnia 2! The phone isn't out yet on Bell Mobility (Canada) but one of the factors that will go into my upgrade is how (or if) Qik will work with that model and WinMo 6.5?

Anxious to find out. I think the phone comes out in the next 30 days. The funny thing is, I upgraded to the Omnia only about 3 months ago. LOL But the Omnia II is just so damn sexy...I want to get Qik in on the "affair". =)

    Phone Model In Profile?
I might be a little too active on these forums lately, but after browsing a LOT of vids tonight, (and chatting with some fine folks) I was always forced to ask the question "What kind of phone are you using?"

I browsed some other videos and some had pretty crappy resolutions and performance, and others had GREAT quality and framerate.

So, I guess what I would suggest is that in the users profile/info (which you see beside their vids) it would be great to see what kind of phone they are using. Of course, they would have to enter it themselves, but at least we, as viewers (and potential Qik users) would know which phones work best with the program.

The phone model should be one of the most obvious things we see when visiting someone's page. Right? =)

    Live Chatting on Qik!
Ok forgive the language, but I just discovered how to chat with people while they stream on Qik. (I always checked the Live Chat tab and it rarely worked, if at all) And I have to say, in the most respectful way, Qik is fucking AWESOME!

I was chatting with a guy who was streaming his drive home. Kept him company for a good 10 minutes and we talked the whole time. He responded via voice and video on his phone, and I was chatting him up from my Mac.

Qik, I don't know why you are not THE killer app. I just fell in love with you all over again. =)

I do find though, that the Live Chat tab is kinda misleading, due to the fact that it doesn't always work. Maybe it's just on Macs. There is no other instruction to suggest that you click on the video and open up the chat bubble.

Anyway, keep up the GREAT work. I'm with you guys all the way.

One thing I noticed was that even when you un-install Qik, it still lingers on your phone. It took me a few tries to find a version that worked on my Omnia. Keep trying different versions and you might get lucky. =) It took me a few tries and Google searches to find my first working Qik. But the new updates all work fine for me. Good luck! – Pakesso, on September 10, 2009 04:31

I have the Samsung Omnia SCH-i910, and I LOVE Qik on it. When I first heard about the program about 2 months ago, I had a really hard time finding a version that worked. When I finally found one, I was in bliss. I've streamed and entire 30 minute set of my band with Qik and my phone. http://qik.com/ceramony

I also streamed a street performer in Old Montreal with no problems. http://qik.com/pakesso

The latest version works wonderfully. I love that I can now set the title of the video before shooting it, or before it finishes uploading. There are 6 resolution settings, but I usually go with 320x240, for best upload speed and quality.

Anyway, for all your media needs, the Omnia is definately a solid choice. The 5mp camera is great for Twitter and Qik. :)

The true beauty will come when the guys at Qik let you switch the flash on/off and allow you to access the camera settings through the program. LOL

    Hope that helps.

I guess the only secure option would have to be a *User Only* tab where no one else can view your remote streams. Otherwise, I can see some very malicious uses for this idea. It's not a BAD idea, but it would really have to benefit the user only, and not his/her followers. =)

Good idea, except that in sounds suspicious. LOL I think you already have plans to use it as a spying device. Are you George Bush? Jk lol

    Permanent flash "on". Samsung Omnia.
Maybe I should have posted my original problem in here. LOL Qik always turns the flash on for streams on my Samsung Omnia. Somewhat annoying when you want to take an anonymous vid or something. Ex: Downtown Montreal on St Catherine's. How come the program accesses my flash setting, but doesn't give the option to turn it on/off? Or other camera settings for that matter. :) Would be great to do so. Especially for the mediaphiles.

    Camera Settings?
Would it be too complicated to have the program access the basic camera settings on your phone? That's my only gripe; not knowing how to change some settings in the program for maximum presentation. :)

    Qik FTW!
I absolutely LOVE this program on my Samsung Omnia. It's great for my band and my private (or not) life. I've scoured the internet for programs such as this and Qik is by far the cream of the crop. I highly recommend it to anyone out there who is looking to share the video equivalent of Tweets. =) Two big thumbs up for Qik!

Why does Qik ALWAYS turn my Omnia flash on for streams?
The latest version of Qik for the Samsung Omnia ALWAYS turns on the flash. Is there any option or way to turn this on or off? I find it kind of annoying and unnecessary.
