It would be really great if rescue time could just recognise when sites like (user).deviantart.com or (user).blogspot.com are actually just part of deviantart, or blogspot, or whatever, even if this was via an internal whitelist or even a local one. Makes a lot more sense than bulk tagging if it could be done, because often people who frequent such sites are visiting new subdomains all the time.
...Also, this might sound stupid, but how does one apply tags...?

Wesley replied on October 09, 2009 09:24 to the question "Real time equivalent for Rescuetime time" in RescueTime:
You have to bear in mind that Rescue Time is only for application/website tracking, so as long as you are actively using programs, i.e. using the mouse or keyboard, it should track everything fine. If you spend a lot of time doing things away from the computer, like doing paperwork etc, then you could try using the 'record offline time' option, or look into some alternative software.
Otherwise, just do a simple comparison between how much work you think you did and what rescue time says, ask yourself what you were doing for the time it reports you idle and draw your own conclusions from there.
Just my thoughts...
Wesley reported a problem in RescueTime on October 09, 2009 09:04:
Focus Time works with Firefox, sort ofAs I write this, I am sitting here with Focus Time turned on and one of my often visited -2 rated sites open in a new tab. However, going to the same site in IE8, the page is blocked immediately - Focus Time is clearly functioning perfectly here. And, strangely enough, if I go back to firefox after doing this, Focus Time appears to start working in firefox - including blocking other -2 rated sites that have not been visited in IE - albeit after some time. There is a considerable wait until Focus Time blocking steps in - until the page has finished loading at least, and then some - and even then, the block can be worked around relatively easily by simply revisiting the original URL! None of these problems are present in IE, however - as previously stated, IE works flawlessly (for once).
So, my question is - what gives? I would really like to know what is going on here, because under IE I have found Focus Time to work really effectively, but compared to firefox it is nowhere near as functional for me to use... or so I thought. Has anyone else had this problem?
Wesley shared an idea in RescueTime on October 09, 2009 08:34:
Rescue Time Firefox AddonI was thinking a firefox addon for rescue time would be a cool idea, probably with the same functionality as the taskbar icon - a simple icon in the navigation toolbar providing access to prefences, pause, focus time and a quick link to the dashboard, for a start.
This may seem pointless to some, but I think an addon for firefox would be a lot more functional than the taskbar icon for a lot of people - especially since rescue time is web based - and features could be changed/added as time goes on. The ability to change logged in status, for instance, would be a good idea IMO - so that the login page can be by-passed in firefox and you can go straight to the dashboard. If that's possible.
Thoughts?-
