I was successfully able to launch single node as well as multi-node cluster by referring to these tutorials

Could you elaborate the usage of reporter interface
We are using streaming jobs our code is written in python. Since our task are long running we set mapred.task.timeout=0. In order to tell hadoop that the task is making progess we would like to use the reporter's progress function as well as setstatus method()
What is the usage of following methods within a python script.
