A comment on the question "Keeps Opening iTunes (won't stop!)" in Songbird:
:P
The issue occurs *all the time*
If I'm in the library. If I'm browsing *any* website. If everything's minimized.
Thanks for all your help. Really appreciate it. – Pat Hawks, on August 12, 2009 23:36

Like I said, I disabled ALL of my addons, and the problem still persists. – Pat Hawks, on August 12, 2009 23:24

Fair enough. I think we agree on the details, if not the philosophy :P – Pat Hawks, on August 12, 2009 16:10

I just think a limited number of people with a limited amount of time should focus more on doing what they do best, rather than try to do everything at once. – Pat Hawks, on August 12, 2009 15:59

Maybe you could just use Firefox for PDFs?
Seems like if Songbird wants to be a music player, they should focus on music (and maybe video) instead of trying to support every format under the sun. – Pat Hawks, on August 12, 2009 15:18

Running Windows XP.
Deselected iTunes like you said, but know, instead, every 15 seconds it asks me what program to use to open ITPC links. – Pat Hawks, on August 12, 2009 15:17
Pat Hawks asked a question in Songbird on August 11, 2009 19:46:
Keeps Opening iTunes (won't stop!)While surfing music websites in Songbird, a dialog popped up and asked what program should open itpc: links.
I selected iTunes from the list.
Now, every 15 seconds, songbird is opening iTunes and subscribing to the same podcast, over and over.
I've disabled all extensions, and deleted all my playlists and everything, yet songbird keeps opening iTunes every 15 seconds.
First of, how do I make it stop?
Second, how did this happen in the first place?

A comment on the question "AppleTV Compatible?" in Songbird:
I understand, and was afraid that would be the case.
I'm sure there aren't that many people out there with an AppleTV who want to ditch iTunes. – Pat Hawks, on August 10, 2009 20:56

This is going to sound rude, and I apologize for that.
I've been searching through several topics and it seems there are quite a few in which, rather than reply to the question at hand, someone from the company just posts a link to a Bugzilla issue and tells basically tells them to go there or STFU.
It seems the *worst* thing you can do when replying to somebody's issue is to give them a link to Bugzilla.
Bugzilla is meant for developers more than average Joe's. Many people just want to know they're being heard, rather than file a bug report and track it and whatnot.
If you would rather everybody just use your bugzilla, why are you on GetSatisfaction in the first place?

What if, in addition to adding a tag with the person's name, Polar Rose also added a machine tag with the persons GUID?
Like "ploarrose:pathawks01" or something.
You could even team up with Flickr and get them to add a box on the photo page with a link to "View more pictures of Pat Hawks" or something, like they've done with Dopplr.

I think there are extensions that take care of some of these issues (the media keys on the keyboard, for example).
They should probably just be bundled by default with Mac installs.
MacBook Extras
Mac Remote Support
...just to name a few :)-
