A comment on the question "No results are being got" in Filtrbox, Inc:
The lack of results could be caused by a couple different things. First it could be the delay that is associated with processing the articles in our system and calculating FiltrRank. In this case you should see some articles within in a minute or so and the balance of the articles as they complete processing.
Second it could be that the articles are beyond the current date range supported in your version of the service. In that case you will see a popup that alerts you to which articles will be omitted unless you upgrade your account.
Does either of these cases describe what you were seeing? – Patrick, on December 03, 2008 23:43

I just upgraded a random account to make sure the process is working and was successful which makes me think there may be something unique with your account. Can you share your login with me so I can take a look at it's permissions?
For the OPML issues can you send a copy of your OPML file to support@filtrbox.com so we can take a look at the format?

Hi OP,
You need to upgrade through the upgrade page (https://www.filtrbox.com/update.php) as opposed to the standard sign up page. Where did you encounter the error? Are you able to sign into the page above with your email and password?

Hi Michele,
Ah two accounts now this is starting to make sense. Can you email me the two logins to patrick@filtrbox.com?
Best,
Patrick

Patrick replied on November 12, 2008 00:01 to the question "How does Filtrbox compare with the competition?" in Filtrbox, Inc:
Hi Roger,
I think we are a fantastic value when you consider our broad media coverage, refined source control, flexibility of delivery and historical reporting. All built on top of our self service oriented platform at a price point that is disruptive to the competition.
But then again I am biased. I'd love to talk to specifics in person patrick@filtrbox.com
Best,
Patrick

Riaz,
Thank you for the feedback. We are working on improving the filtr refinement process and should have a very positive step forward on this problem shortly. In the meantime I would be happy to take a look at your filtrs and make suggestions for improvement. To do this please email me from your account login at patrick@filtrbox.com and I will take a look. – Patrick, on October 17, 2008 15:11
Patrick replied on October 17, 2008 03:01 to the question "Results are less relevant after 3 months of filtering" in Filtrbox, Inc:
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. It is disappointing to hear that your results have gotten worse over the past three months. While we know our software is not perfect we do feel as if we are making good progress in improving our offering.
One of the ways we improve is by investigating poor experiences. We would appreciated it if you would be willing to share your user name or filtrs either here or by emailing support@filtrbox.com so we can better understand your experience.

What OS are you running? If you happen to be running Linux there are a few more installation steps captured at the link below.

If you aren't running Linux what OS are you running? Can you also provide your versions of FF3 and Flash so we can attempt to recreate the issue?
Patrick replied on October 13, 2008 19:20 to the problem "After signup/login i just get a white page" in Filtrbox, Inc:
Hi BK,
I see that you have created two accounts which are both in good standing but neither have been accessed. This leads me to think this is most likely a Flash issue.
You may need to upgrade to the latest version of Flash 9.
You can click on the link below to see what version of Flash you are running.

Should you need to upgrade downloads are available here.

Does this fix your issue?

The interaction you are describing generally occurs when your filtr is too restrictive. The best way to test this is by backing the filtr off by removing some of your qualifying terms. If you would like help specific to the individual filtr please send the primary terms and qualifiers to support@filtrbox.com or post them here – Patrick, on October 08, 2008 19:31

Daily Briefing emails not supported in Lotus Notes. The Filtrbox Daily briefing emails contain images that are in portable network graphics (PNG) format. PNG images are not currently supported by the Lotus Notes email client and according to this IBM tech note support is not currently on the roadmap.
Possible solutions to this issue are to redirect your daily briefing to a webmail account by changing your email address on the account tab of the dashboard. Or you can log into the dashboard directly at https://www.filtrnbox.com/dashboard/ and set your history slider to a single day.
Note: This is not a Filtrbox specific issue but does affect those using Lotus Notes to read their daily briefings.
Patrick replied on September 03, 2008 15:12 to the problem "No blue arrows!" in Filtrbox, Inc:
The two icons represent two different constructs within the application. You may have noticed that the items with the pencil also have only one cube on the far left side of the pane. These items are filtrs or the actual search terms you setup within Filtrbox for us to go out and collect articles.
On the far left for the items with the blue arrows you see multiple cubes which represent filtr groups or logical containers in which to store a group of individual filtrs. You can click and drag individual filtrs into groups or you can click on the blue arrow to drill down into the container and have the option to add a new filtr from there.
To check which filtr is returning results you can click to the circle to the left of the group name or term and we will display only articles associated with the groups or filtrs selected. If you click on select all below and then deselect all at the bottom of the pane you will turn off all filtrs and then turning them on one at a time you can see which filtr is delivering results.
Does this make sense and give you what you need?

Patrick replied on August 12, 2008 17:15 to the question "Phrase matching?" in Filtrbox, Inc:
Hi Robert,
There are a couple things to keep in mind about how the technology works when looking at results. As our solution is persistent search based we are searching for your relevant articles from point of filtr creation forward.
That means if you update a filtr with additional exclude terms you won't see the change instantly in the article we have already found, but going forward you will see the change.
For this specific example we took a look in the database to see how the filtr is constructed and noticed that the "data services" exclude phrase was not currently populated. Which means it isn't currently being applied.
Is it still visible to you through the interface? Of did you remove your exclude terms as part of your testing?
Regards,
Patrick
