I Love Spock asked a question in Spock on March 17, 2008 22:12:
Myspace InfoHow come my Myspace information appears?
I Love Spock replied on March 12, 2008 23:45 to the problem "I don't know how you got informations from facebook but my name and pictures are for facebook use only, I don't want them to be seen by everybody on the web, it's private. Please remove me from spoke as soon as possible. Thank you." in Spock:
Disrupsean,
The reason why I like catgofires metaphor better is because in addition to helping to explain Spock, it also helps to explain why people need to read the fine print before signing up for something. If you want to be on Facebook that's great. If you want to be on Facebook, but not on Yahoo, Google, Spock, etc- which connect people to a persons Facebook profile-then make your Facebook profile private.

JOD,
Removing yourself from Spock is fairly easy given that you need only to make whichever source that was crawled private and then flag your search result. As far as opting out of notifications and invitations we have a similar unsubscribe option found at the bottom of every e-mail and in your settings page. With regard to removing yourself from everything, this may be a reference to the concept of removing yourself from any search engine such as Google or Yahoo which would include the necessary step of going down to your local public records department and having all of your information made private. I'm assuming that would probably take a while.

Maria,
You most likely have a public facebook profile but are unaware. You should be able to set it as private in your settings page. Keep in mind that just because your picture is visible doesn't mean that people can see your entire Facebook Profile. WIth that in mind you may want to consider enhancing your Spock search result so that if a friend is looking for you it increases the chance they'll be able to find you.
As far as Facebook Applications are concerned, Spock does have a few but they all clearly state that signing up will link you to a Spock Search result. I hope this helps
I Love Spock replied on January 24, 2008 19:13 to the problem "I hate data harvesting, and I refuse to use your service." in Spock:
The real question is are you a good friend for not changing the information that your friend was a female when you had the ability to? We don't make assurances that we have 100% true information, however we feel that we generally do a good job in creating an easy to view platform for people search, and that the information you see is generally true.
If you want to look further into fully removing yourself from everything check out Spock's about page (http://www.spock.com/do/pages/online_...). Remember that you can still be on a variety of Social Networking sites without being concerned about being Spammed. Look into a what security settings a site offers and go from there.
