I know, it is really weird, and I am with you on the annoying part. I sat there the other day trying to make the spreadsheet thing work and it was pretty frustrating. However, I mentioned this at a meeting, and they said they were working on a better way to do it in 2.0, and there are a lot of questions here about spreadsheets, so I think it's a fix that is long overdue as it is, and will be welcomed once it is implemented. (As long as it works!)

I'm going to see if fixing it in 1.0 will be possible, because, well, I don't want to wait either :)

It's very annoying though. If you edit a page, make no changes, and then save and repeat over and over then each time you do you get extra blank lines added, so the cells get longer and longer.

Yes, it is deliberate. No, it cannot be removed.

I have a large table on my wiki. If I edit the page and then save without making changes it adds an extra blank line to every cell in the table.
Specifically, looking at the HTML, it adds

This is possible if you hack the UIX controls server side, but the trouble isn't worth it. I could try and remember where its at, but its one of those things you'll need to change/modify/monitor each time you apply a patch.

I searched the forum (I am cupcake 11201, but now with an account) and found someone else asking the same question, but with no reply. User communities are great, but I like the idea with this site that the employees of Oracle are listening.
