Nelson replied on October 11, 2008 03:31 to the question "Risk definition update has failed" in Sunbelt Software:
I have Counterspy Ver 3.1.3125. This was updated from 2.x to 3 last week. Tried to update definitions but got the "Internet Connection Error" message. I then cleared the temp files from explorer (as suggested) and now it appears to work. But, I got a "Update failed" message, and when I cancelled back to the main screen, it now shows that update to ver 2300 definitions worked successfully.

Hello Bruce,
Thank you for posting, sorry to hear that you are having trouble.
To allow file and print sharing for your home network.
Under network security, select the predefined tab and hit set to defaults
Next select the trusted area and make sure that local area connection has a checkmark in it
Then under applications set Microsoft file and printer sharing(netbios) to permit for both in and out under trusted

You don't need the entire panel to load to have a popup to take action. – goochy, on October 08, 2008 21:01

Hello JimmieJoe,
Thank you for Posting.
You should be fine running Active Protection with McAfee. CounterSpy was designed with the thought of you being able to run your favorite anti-virus software. If the Active Protection will not turn on for you please contact us directly so we can look into what may be causing it from turning on.

I had the same problem and fixed it by doing a "System Restore". Go to "Start", "Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", "System Restore". Select a date a day or so before the problem started. Documents and mail are excluded. Only the Windows files are returned to the previous condition. Good luck.

Hello Adith.ks
Thank you for posting here, sorry to hear that you are having trouble,
If you run a deep/quick scan is Vipre detecting the threat and not removing it? Do you notice that when you run another scan the same threats are being detected but not removed? If so, please contact our support dept. so we can get some logs from you. However, if Vipre is not detecting it please notify the research dept with any information you can about this threat so we can add it in our database and get it removed for you. I have put a link below to notify research dept if Vipre is not detecting it, and if it is detecting it please contact us directly using the ticket# below.

Hello Ghaeh,
Thank you for posting.
When you are going through the setup wizard, please choose an alternative install path that you would like to install to use.
For example other than C:\Program Files\Sunbelt....
You may want to choose F:\Program Files\Sunbelt....
Vipre should still continue to update and function normally.
