Thanks, email on the way, I think there may be another problem, my Soocial account now only shows a Gmail and Soocial connection nothing for Outlook and a Sync I just ran (Jan 8 @10:08PM MST did not complete, Could this be the reason? Did not get any more dupes this time, holding steady at 1538 vs 393 in Soocial which is the correct number..

Sync of Outlook gone crazy after server upgrade creating duplicate entries in OutlookSync of Outlook gone crazy after server upgrade creating duplicate entries in Outlook. I made a couple of minor changes in existing entries and I noticed the update to Soocial failed. Later in the day when the Soocial web site came back up Sync attempted to update but each time gave a failure due to a network problem. I then noticed that I now have 3 duplicated entries in Outlook for each of my 392 normal entries. Soocial so far only shows the original entries as well as the above mentioned minor changes.

If its an Outlook issue and I have no doubt it is :), maybe you can ignore categories all together and not forward them to Gmail? Something tells me this behavior will not change in Outlook 2007 anytime soon if ever.... – pete1, on December 17, 2008 21:48

I had this problem and traced it to having some contacts in Outlook 2007 assigned to more then one group. When I eliminated the multiple assignments I stopped having the problem in Gmail via Soocial. Hope this helps in finding the problem.
You assign groups in Outlook 2007 using the Categorize button under the Contacts tab when editing a contact card as the post above pointed out-

Thanks for the posts maybe one of these will work for me. I am still hope that Soocial makes one for the T-Bird because sync seems to work the best if a given device is only 1 step away from the sync hub. As soon as you get 2 steps away more errors and incompatibility issues pop up. Soocial caught my eye because they hope to support T-Bird and Blackberry's, both of which I use in addition to my core MS Outlook.

This is true but the rub comes in that you can't run both Soocial and Plaxo on Outlook (not recommended by Soocial, duplicate issues) and Plaxo works very poorly with Gmail (one way Gmail to Plaxo only) when it works which is not that often from my experience. As a test I might resurrect my Plaxo Gmail link and use that but as I say at least for me Plaxo to any service like Yahoo or Gmail has been only so so. It does work pretty well when just Outlook, T-bird and for some reason MSN are in the mix. Thanks for the download link, I thought plaxo dropped support for T-bird because it does not show up on the dashboard where you add new connections. – pete1, on November 23, 2008 18:44

I too am having a problem sending to Gmail SMTP via Thunderbird I use port 587 which is what Gmail requires. Interestingly I have another account hosted on 1and1 servers which also needs port 587 and it works fine, just Gmail is the problem. – pete1, on November 22, 2008 17:00-

Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately after shutting down all other security sofware (SPF, VIPRE) I also checked to see if the associated services that I know of were stopped as follows:
SbPF.Launcher
SPF4
SBAMSvc
I tried running un-install again with the same failure. I also tried to reinstall the
SPF and I get the same error! My goal is to uninstall, what should be my next step?? I also tried with UAC on and off, no difference.

Cannot uninstall SPF Error 1720I need to uninstall SPF, but I get a error 1720 (see below). I searched this forum and found refferences to making sure VB is registered and I followed the steps to do that, still having the problem. I also stopped SPF and tried to stop any remaining SPF proccesses before running the uninstall but this did not work either. Running Vista Home Premium, w/ SP! and all current patches.
What can I do next??-
