Pete set one of Pete's replies as an official response to "How do I change my slogan on my header?" in EzWeb123.com

Pete replied on June 22, 2008 19:53 to the question "How do I change my slogan on my header?" in EzWeb123.com:

    Pete
When you first register and set your website up using the set-up wizard, we ask you to enter a slogan. This is shown on the website header, beneath the title of your website.

However, you don't have to have a slogan in your header text, if you don't want one, or you can easily change it.

Simply access the Members Area at this link:

    http://www.ezweb123.com/members/

Then from the left hand navigation, click on Customize theme, under the Themes heading. This takes you to the Theme Builder.

Once in the Builder, you will see that under the Website header section, there is the slogan field. Simply edit the text to change the slogan, or remove the text to not have a slogan at all.

If you remove the slogan and save the theme, you will note that when the page re-loads the slogan is gone and the title text in the header itself has been centered.

To put a slogan back in simply repeat the process. Any problems just reply to this topic. Thanks.

Pete set one of Pete's replies as an official response to "What are home page modules?" in EzWeb123.com

  • question

Pete replied on June 22, 2008 17:17 to the question "What are home page modules?" in EzWeb123.com:

    Pete
Home Page modules can make your website home page a bit more interesting, by instantly changing its structure and by adding headlines on the home page with links to more information.

The modules are particularly effective for small businesses or organisations, that have key pages that they want visitors to visit via the home page.

To activate home page modules, first access the Members Area:

    http://www.ezweb123.com/members/

Then, from the left hand navigation click on 'Manage' under Extras.

Click on 'Activate, next to Home Page Modules and then 'manage'. This then takes you to this page where you can add, edit, or delete home page modules.

If you click on edit against one of the homepage modules, you can then edit this page. Save the changes and then view your website and you will see what you have created.

Pete set one of Pete's replies as an official response to "What are Page Layouts?" in EzWeb123.com

  • question

Pete replied on June 22, 2008 17:06 to the question "What are Page Layouts?" in EzWeb123.com:

    Pete
Page Layout templates help you build a web page for your website very quickly and are listed in a drop down at the top of each page editor.

Some come with pre-populated text content, such as the 'About' page in a personal website and most have images that can either be left in, removed or replaced with others.

Apart from ease and speed in which you will create your website, there are other benefits of using a pre-set page layouts, such as they are a good starting point if you are not familiar with the page editor (window with icons above it) and if you go wrong, you can simply re-load a page layout into the editor and start again. It therefore also acts as a 'reset'.

We'll be adding new page layouts all the time, some for specific businesses and others for specific interests. So, for example if you want a website home page for a Florists, you'll be able to select one, complete with images and text.

If you would like to suggest specific page layouts, then just reply to this topic and we'll consider creating them. Thanks.

There are actually two ways that you can change the text font type and size for your website.

You can either do this under certain sections within the Theme Builder to make a site wide change, or change it on individual pages.

First of all, log into the Members Area:

    http://www.ezweb123.com/members/

If you want to make a site wide change i.e. make all pages have the same font types, size etc, then under 'Themes' on the left hand navigation, click on 'Customize Theme'. This then takes you to the Theme Builder.

If you scroll down the page, you will note that it is split into sections, starting with Website header. If you click on the small 'Help' link against each heading it will open up a seperate window to show which section of the website page this refers to.

You will see that you can make the text on your header bigger or smaller or change the font type, weight etc. You can also change your website slogan in here.

If you scroll a bit further down the page you will see the title 'Main website fonts'. You can use this section to change all of the text across your site in one go - saving you a lot of time, especially if you have created lots of pages for your website.

Remember to save your changes by hitting one of the 'Save Theme' buttons before exiting the page. It doesn't matter which one.

You can also make changes to your text font type and size by accessing individiual pages from the Members Area, highlighting the text that you would like to change within the editor and clicking on familiar MS Word type icons, such as font size, bold, italics etc shown on the icon bar above.

If you get stuck, just reply to this topic.

Pete replied on June 22, 2008 16:28 to the question "How do I create my Homepage?" in EzWeb123.com:

The homepage for your website is automatically created by the set-up wizard when you first register with EzWeb123.com.

You can manage your homepage at any time by logging into the Members Area: http://www.ezweb123.com/members/

Then select 'manage' under where it says homepage on the left hand navigation. This will then take you to the page editor for your homepage.

You can then edit this page in the same way that you do with other website pages, either by selecting a page layout to get you started from the drop down list at the top of the page, or by editing content within the window below. You can even use a combination of both.

If you go wrong and you've already saved your changes, you can always re-load a pre-set page layout into the window and start again. It acts as a kind of 'reset'.

Once you have made your changes, don't forget to hit the 'Save Changes' button at the foot of the page.

Pete replied on June 16, 2008 19:54 to the question "How do I use the editor to edit a web page?" in EzWeb123.com:

    Pete
To edit a web page using the editor, first login to the members area:

    http://www.ezweb123.com/members/

From the left hand navigation, select whether you would like to edit your home page or other pages, by clicking the 'manage' link below either of these.

Once you have gained access to the page that you would like to edit, you will see the page editor, the window with microsoft 'word' type icons above it.

You can use the editor to do various things to the content displayed within the window. It is used in a very similar way to 'word', where you can easily change the text font, size, colour etc.

If you hover over each icon you can see what it does. I would recommend that you use the 'full screen' feature (top left corner) to open up the page for editing. To get the page back to its normal size just click the same icon.

You can also insert tables within your page and change the colour of backgrounds and make the page look far more interesting by changing cell colours, borders etc. If you click on the table icons, make sure that you give them a moment to load, as they can take a minute.

You can also spice up the page by inseting images within cells and easily drag the image to adjust the size - it's easy.

Using tables will be covered in more detail elsewhere with the support facility, or if you get stuck, just contact me, or reply to this topic - I will be notified of your request for help. Thanks.
