Give a list of Businesses/POI in area to start from

There must be some way of integrating white pages and other information into Gowalla so that we're not starting from a blank slate. I'm near a small town in the middle of nowhere, and there's absolutely nothing here, so I have to create stuff completely from scratch.

Brightkite does it somehow (though I don't like that as well as Gowalla).

Zip codes don't even seem to be recognized until someone creates something there.

IMO this would make the app a thousand times more easy to use and useful.

I'd like to see "Convenience Store" added under shops and services. Y'know for 7-11, Super America, that type of place that sells groceries as well as gas.

I love the fact that Delicious automagically imported my iTunes libraries. But I hate the way it handles TV shows. "Display by Series" option should sort from the "show" tag, and display the series like it does for albums, with the show on the shelf, and episodes in order on the right.. There should be a "display by album" option too for music albums. In fact, the language for that dropdown should change to iTunes tag terminology. It's way confusing now, and I'm not sure how to just sort albums alphabetically, or series alphabetically.

I agree totally about putting placemarks on the location screen. Also, I'd like to be able to post and check in at the same time from the placemarks. Right now it just checks in automatically when I choose a placemark, then I have to go and post a note, creating two check-ins, cluttering up my page when only one check-in with a post would do.

I didn't mean that like it sounded. I've never tried Boxee on the Apple TV. I was referring more to hacking the Apple TV in general. There were severe stability issues for me. This was a LONG time ago though. So I'm gonna try it again soon, now that I have a Boxee account. -Peter000

It works that way, but I just don't want Twinkle to access my location. I usually have location services off anyway, because it doesn't work well where I live. But the problem occurs when location services are on. I haven't tried it with location services turned off. – Peter000, on October 12, 2008 03:54
