Hello Okapia, Thank you for posting your suggestion.
We appreciate the feedback, We are working on a new version of the Sunbelt Personal Firewall, and it is in development. We have had a number of requests for such a feature, so it may be implemented in this new version. Unfortunately at this time we do not have a release date for the new version.
If you have any questions or other suggestions please let us know.
Thanks,
Peter
Peterh replied on April 25, 2009 12:39 to the question "Help Already!" in Sunbelt Software:
Hello Ron, thank you for posting your question.
At this time we have not released a new software version. What it seems has happened, is your installation attempted to connect to our update server to update but it failed to connect. This can happen if the update server is very busy. As long as you don't get this message every time you try to check for updates you are still protected. We are working to implement new technology to prevent these kinds of update problems.
If you have any questions please let us know.
Thanks,
Peter

Hello John, Thank you for posting your question
The time remaining is calculated based on previous scan times. Once it has complete a few scans it should begin to show a correct amount of time remaining. 2 hours is within the range we consider normal.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Peter
Peterh replied on April 24, 2009 13:43 to the problem "erroneous Backdoor matches that VIPRE is sending to Quarantine." in Sunbelt Software:
Hello Kerry, Thank you for posting your question.
I tested this on a machine here, and it did find the activewords file as a threat, but not the other program, and after adding it to the always allowed it didn't find it again.
Try and manually add those programs to the always allowed. To do that open Vipre, click on manage, then always allowed. Click add, then entire directory's of those programs.
Please submit a false positive here, http://www.sunbeltsecurity.com/Submit...
So that our developers can look into why its being found.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks
Peter

Hello DB11, thank you for posing your problem.
If you have another computer in the house, you can copy the services.exe to bootable USB drive and place it on the computer that needs it. We are working on another solution, but at this time if you do not have a installation disc for windows this is the alternative solution.
if you have any questions please let us know.
Thanks,
Peter
Peterh replied on April 19, 2009 12:48 to the question "Vipre blocking POP3 email" in Sunbelt Software:
Hello Rod, we are still working to ensure that Vipre works correctly with email applications including programs like Thunderbird. We have been working to have these these fixes to be included in a new software version that is in development.

Peter.
Peterh replied on April 19, 2009 12:42 to the question "Windows 7 Compatibility" in Sunbelt Software:
Hello Bmoura, Thank you for posting your comments.
Because WIndows 7 is still in beta we do not have a version that is compatible with it. We are working to ensure that once the final version of Windows 7 is released we can have a version of Vipre and the Sunbelt Personal Firewall that will work with them.
If you have any questions please let us know.
Thanks,
Peter
Peterh replied on April 19, 2009 12:40 to the question "Is Vipre removing Microsoft's own services.exe from system32 folder?" in Sunbelt Software:
HansR,
If it continues to block the file you will need to go into the user data files for Vipre, in XP they are in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sunbelt\AntiMalware
In Vista its C:\ProgramData\Sunbelt\AntiMalware. Delete the .xml files in this folder, it will reset the ap settings that are causing it to block the files automatically.
We are already working to prevent this from occurring by updating the definitions.
If you have any questions please let us know.
Thanks,
Peter

Peterh replied on April 18, 2009 20:46 to the problem "GenericMBRrootlit still there after VIPRE clean" in Sunbelt Software:
John, Thank you for posting your comments. I understand your concern with the possibility of a root kit on your machine, but reformatting a hard drive is not always the only way to remove a root kit.
We are working to resolve this false positive in the definitions so that it does not cause confusion and concern for any more users.
it is not removing any part of the hidden partition, or causing any damage. And since it is a false positive there is no additional risks of infection on any machine where it is detected on.
I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.
If you have any questions please let us know.
Thanks,
Peter

Hello Ed, Thank you for posting your question.
Try and run this cleaner utility for VIpre, and see if it can remove that left over file. Then try and reinstall Vipre again.
