A comment on the question "day pass blues" in Spotify:
Thank you for replying so promptly Carl-Axel.
Two things: 1) I'm now streaming on my day-pass so either someone has made a concession or there is an inconsistency between your answer and Spotify policy; 2) the fundamental issue is whether or not any category of user should be prevented from using Spotify in circumstances where, but for the existence of an offshore proxy server, they are simply conforming to 'normal' domestic listening practices.
The fact is I am not travelling abroad! Nor I suspect are a number of Spotify users who try to use the system in similar circumstances to me. I can of course continue to use Spotify when I get home or if I connect directly elsewhere.
My argument is therefore that I am listening in the UK and that for the time being at least I believe it is not Spotify's intention to confine me only to listening at home. I'm sure you will agree with me that to do so would be silly.
I happen to sympathise with your rule on travelling. So please could I ask you to politely escalate the true situation to the Spotify leadership stressing that there are relatively few real travellers in this situation, only loyal Spotify users listening in their native country wanting to get the best they can out of a great product.
Thank you for your time. – butterbelly, on July 03, 2009 14:38

peter lawton asked a question in Spotify on July 03, 2009 11:10:
day pass bluesDoes a 'day pass' confer premium benefits?
I just bought a day pass mainly to test out the premium service and to listen from my office (which happens to use international proxy servers). I believed (not unreasonably) that paying for one day at a rate greater than the average premium daily rate would have allowed me access without that very, very irritating "Your current location is different.... etc etc").
C'mon Spotify it is unacceptable to confine me to UK proxies when I have parted with my hard-earned cash. Do you want me to be a Premium customer or not!?
P¬)
PS - yes I have re-booted!
A comment on the problem "why is spotify stating that im not in UK while i am?" in Spotify:
I think I have this problem too. I bought a day pass because I believed it conferred 'premium' privileges for one day, is this correct? If so I would have expected not to be confined to a UK IP address. I too work for a large international company that uses international proxies. I do hope I haven't just wasted my money.... – peter lawton, on July 03, 2009 10:33-
